Sorry. There's no shorter way to explain our bad experience with this place.
We decided to try this place on a Monday night around 7pm. BAD CHOICE. First, we arrived and there were barely any customers, only two tables were taken of about 12. Only one waiter working so there was a long awkward wait before we were given the menus. Menu seemed standard enough. However, the price in most items seemed suspiciously a little high, which made us hope the food quality and quantity would be decent at least. We ordered the ebi mayo to start, the house roll, and the chicken katsu. The waiter came back and said, get this: (paraphrasing)" we are out of white rice, are you okay with brown rice?" We then asked if there was an extra charge. She said yes, so we agreed that we would only have the brown rice if there was no extra charge because it makes no sense. Is not our fault that they are out. Huh? She had to go back and ask the chef. Came back and confirmed there would be no charge. The food arrived and immediately we knew the portions were catered for small children with a slow metabolism who haven't hit puberty. We finished under a record time of about 3 or 4 minutes. CONCLUSION: we were still way too hungry. We paid at the counter since the waiter was doing who-knows-what and left and walked over to the AnW across the street because it was the only place cheap enough to eat after paying way too much for a sushi restaurant that apparently runs out of white rice. What....
Read moreThis sushi restaurant is iconic in my family we get food from here so often it’s genuinely a staple for us. Everything is so yummy and the staff are so kind and accommodating. I came tonight with my sister and our friend. My sister and I both got the salmon oshi and an avocado/ cucumber roll. The salmon oshi is soooooooo good here, the fish is perfect and the jalapeño on top adds the perfect amount of spice. Also they have a very good cucumber/ avo roll. Our friend ordered the spicy tuna roll and the unagi roll. She said that the spicy tuna roll was okay but not really spicy. She gave it a seven out of ten but I think she liked the unagi roll. While I am including her opinion in this review I would have to disagree with it because I love this place and am forever loyal to Irori. I have also tried on different visits their edamame, agedashi tofu, spinach Goma Ae, miso soup and prawn tempura’s. All of these are also incredible dishes. Prices are also very reasonable. I will always recommend irori till I die I love this place it is perfect for lunch, dinner or any occasion. The casual vibes are immaculate I am forever an irori stan it is really hard for me to cheat on this place with...
Read moreThis place beats out all the competition great food good prices and nice service. A little busy which is good. Our new place to visit weekly. In Vancouver, however, if you are travelling to Whistler from Vancouver make sure to drop into Kalulu in Squamish. It's easy to get to the first gas station on your right after the nice modern bridge, just passed Shannon Falls, with the curved top truss. Turn right and follow the road to the shopping centre, it's there, basic tables and chairs but superb food the freshest ingredients pricing is very good also and you get real Japanese service and cooking. Today we were, at Irori Sushi, served by Minhye, who was extremely pleasant and served us with a very happy disposition. As usual the prices and good...
