Delicious pizza. They are lucky their pizza is good because service definitely wanting. In covid times I try to order takeout by phone and we always pick up bc I know restaurants must pay for online interface so and I want the restaurants to get a a much of my money as possible. We called first and answering machine says leave a name and number so I did. We were driving to kerrisdale anyway so we decided to just go in and order. (It’s been about 2 hours since I left a message and I still haven’t received a call back). I walked in thinking it must be really busy if they didn’t pick up the phone and didn’t call back. Nope. Three kitchen staff and three wait staff. They looked like they had stuff to do but... I guess they must get so much business that they don’t need to try to pick up the phone to get more orders? Anyway, I ordered, paid, left a $15 tip on a hundred dollar takeout order. The person who took the order was really nice. Came back in half an hour. They wanted me to pay again?? I said I already paid. Don’t you guys keep track of this? I guess they also must get tipped really well from their takeout orders since they did not remember me. The guy who looked like he was the manager came over and in a not friendly way wanted to make sure that I wasn’t taking a salad that I shouldn’t be (we ordered it). Instead of making a good customer feel welcome they made me feel like they thought I was trying to steal a salad. Their pizza is very tasty but I think I will find another pizza place next time since they seem to behave as if they don’t need the business. Good for you Bufala. When businesses behave as if they don’t need the business that’s when I say good luck and I...
Read moreI had my 30th Birthday Here. My party of seven were Charged for cake cutting service without letting us know.
Near the end of the meal we had asked the server do you have a candle and the waitress said "only if my party sings happy birthday" in a no big deal kind of way. No mention of any service for the candle. The waitress takes the box comes out in a Minute puts the bars on a board and gives us plates no cutlery. I have three problems with the charge for cake cutting service; 1st no cake was involved these where wraped Bars no need for plates. 2nd of all no knife was involved these were bars no cutlery given or needed. 3rd As for the price they Charged $18 which was more then the desserts in fact we could have had another pizza (which we had already had four) for that price which was not mentioned just added to the bill. I would expect this from a high end dining establishment which would mention the fee up front but not a casual family style pizza joint. The lack of transparency at Bufala for service really put me off along with my party from ever visiting this place.
So I would not recommend this place for birthdays unless you got a cake that is above average priced and your okay with the fact they will charge you without any notice for cake cutting services. The Pizza it was very good its Pizza what would you expect for near $20 pizza in this style.
I understand places do charge for these services to offset the cost of not serving you desert but be transparent as we would have declined the...
Read moreWe visited the River District locations for a family dinner of 5 people. Seated right on time in a comfortable booth. Very impressive location with very high ceilings and a light airy vibe. Maybe just me but I noticed and liked the background music source, which was not played too loud but added to the vibe.
Service was friendly and attentive, and helpful suggestions were offered on request about food pairings.
On to the food: disappointing. Started with garlic prawns. I'm told the sauce was very good, but I found the good sized prawns to be bland and soft. Just didn't have any taste on their own, and lacked substance.
Let's talk pizzas: I didn't try one of the pizzas ordered which was the Fungi, but it was covered with Arugula. It looked more like a salad than a pizza. I didn't try it and didn't hear any complaints, but to me it didn't look appealing.
The other pizza was the Calabria which I assume would have tasted great IF it wasn't soggy. Literally soggy! Which of course made it taste like a wet rag.
Bathrooms are called "water closets" and labelled "WC". No men's or women's,,,, and there a a few of them, but the door to each has no indicator of it being occupied or not, so you must try each handle to find an empty one. Water (hopefully) and paper towels on the floor, and the cleaning staff isn't cleaning the tile edges which have visible dust.
So, all in all, this...
