Have you ever found yourself in this situation while picking up/waiting for your order?
The place is busy, no doubt, and you see lots of people also waiting for their food.
Then, over the course of the next 50 minutes (and in this particular instance, that was on top of another 20 minutes because it was a phone order), some of the folks leave with their food, while fresh faces come in to place an order, or for pickup, and the place eventually gets less busy, BUT THEN AFTER 50 MINUTES, YOU ARE THE ONLY PERSON STILL WAITING FOR YOUR FOOD?
Well, this happened to me at Dosa Corner.
0:00 - Was told order was partially-filled, and to wait 5 minutes. 0:24 - Inquired about order, someone went to the back. 0:27 - A lady unfamiliar with the menu orders three dosas in person (I overheard the conversation with staff) and leaves her name, let's call her 'C', for later pickup. 0:30 - Inquired again, was told another 5 minutes. 0:40 - Asked for status update yet again, no response. 0:45 - Inquired again. Person asked what it was I ordered. I told them it should be in your system under my name. She disappears into the back 0:46 - 'C's' order is ready BEFORE MINE, and it's much more complicated than what I ordered. 0:50 - Food comes out (an appetizer and a curry) piping hot, with no explanation of the delay.
I then pulled a Ken and asked for the manager. He said that he'll talk to his staff, "an apparent mixup" with the order. How is that possible? It's in the queue and it needs to be filled, especially given that I was asking about its progress.
That was how my last ever visit to Dosa Corner went down
Not recommended because of the poor service. Life is short, don't let them waste your time.
BTW, I've dined in before, before COVID hit. The in-restaurant service is...
Read moreThis used to be my go to place for South Indian in Vancouver and greater Vancouver area. But I noticed from couple of my recent visits, their service has been degrading.I don't know if that is because they have been getting good reviews and rating but guys you really need to understand , to maintain 5 star reviews you have to be consistent throughout. I went there with couple of my friends and everyone ordered standard South Indian stuff and I ordered Chicken Biryani. And guess what happened, I WAS SERVED STALE BIRYANI. And in an earlier visit, I ordered Chicken Chettinad and I guess they didn't have enough curry, so they added a tomato in 4 pieces along with some water to increase the quantity. But obviously it lacked spices and flavor and SALT too.
So the advice is don't order anything beyond standard South Indian dishes because that will most probably be fresh.
And Advice to the restaurant management, if someone orders something and you don't have it fresh, just politely inform the customer that you don't have it and the customer can order something else, rather than making adjustments to the food. Its just one dish, but because of that you can loose a...
Read moreOur family went for lunch, and were seated but no one asked us what we want until 15 mins and water was served then. We ordered the food and first plate of medu wada came in after 15 mins and had hair in it. When showed to the staff they took it away but no sorry no nothing was mentioned no one from management or service came and apologized. After 5 minutes staff came out and asked if we still want to order medu wada and we said yes and then it was a long wait for another 20 mins and more for first order to come. We had ordered butter milk and after a long wait and almost the lunch was over we asked for it and person serving us seemed surprised and called staff inside kitchen. After some time the staff came out and said the butter milk is over. We asked why inform us so late and were that kitchen just told staff it's over. I mean like at the end of lunch and had we not asked no one would have told us. This was extremely bad service and disappointed. Although the food was okay...
