I’m going to be honest, I went there on my wife’s urging.we decided to have our Thanksgiving dinner there. First impressions were good. Lots of people of Asian descent eating in. In my books that is a good sign. The staff were polite and quick to get us a table. Once seated, we were immediately given one menu, dishes and tea. The tea was hot and flavourful. I guess they ignited since my wife was the only Asian in our group, she was going to be the one to order. They were not wrong. After reviewing the menu, my wife ordered the Lobster with glutinous rice, the Braised egg tofu, Peking Duck and Sweet & Sour pork (for the less adventurous in our family)
Approximately 5 minutes after ordering, we were brought a Lobster to choose. My wife chose and soon after, the Peking Duck arrived. It was delicious. The skin was crispy and flavourful, several pieces had some meat which was juicy and tender. After enjoying the crisps, the lettuce wrap portion of the Peking Duck was brought to us. OMG!!! It was fantastic! I’ve tried this once before, at Kirin Beside Starlight Casino.
When we were approximately 2/3 done with the Peking Duck, the server brought us the lobster and glutinous rice as well as the Braised egg Tofu and the Pineapple Sweet and Sour Pork. Now, I’m not much of a lobster person or braised tofu lover but they were both delicious. Flavourful and the servings were plentiful. Enough that even with four of us, we took home enough for a second meal.
Here is where I’m going to defer to my wife and her knowledge of Cantonese-style food. She has told me that all the dishes we ordered are very, very original and authentic cuisine. She absolutely adores this place.
Price-wise, I would say it is ok and my wife feels that for the quality and quantity of food one gets, it is not expensive. The whole meal fed four of us, twice over, and cost $215 plus taxes.
All in all, if you are a Cantonese-style food lover or a seafood lover, then this is a place you definitely want to visit and...
Read moreAlways been a regular here for their lobster sticky rice. Service usually have been pretty decent. However, my experience today was quite disappointing. It gets super busy here during the weekends, so we made reservations for 5pm just to avoid the rush. Everything was fine until after we finished our dinner and was settling the bill. And within that 10 mins of us paying, we were treated like we were an annoyance. First, I was told to get up and move out of my chair (I was still drinking my tea) because the server could not get past behind me, as the other table, an older lady moved her chair onto the walkway so she has more room? Ok, I guess since I'm done eating, I'll just move. While I was standing up at my table, another server told me to move out of the way because I was blocking new diners' way to their table. So I can't sit, and I can't stand at my own table while my husband was paying the bill? I get that it's busy, but at least give me the decency of letting me finish my cup of tea while we settle the bill. We just spent a good $400 for dinner, and we felt like once they have taken our money, they want us to gtfo quick. The lady at the counter was new (havent seen her there before), and she has the worst customer service. She spoke Cantonese to the servers, rudely about our table, thinking we didnt understand as we were speaking english to accommodate our dinner guests. There was also something wrong about their debit machine, as our card got stuck and broke when we took it out. I went up to just let her know it might be a problem, but she started yelling defensively, and even told me to look at the other customer who just paid with her card and it was fine. I felt like it was a waste of my time, and just left. I love the food here, but this lady really put a bad taste in my mouth. But then again, this is the typical service you get from a Chinese restaurant. Zero stars for customer service, but 4...
Read moreWe got scammed by them. Food is better than average but their staffs are rude and not honest. For business, I value servers should hold honesty to their customers. Without it, even with kitchen better than average, the entire experience will be ruined. I rarely give 1 star but my experience is totally ruin NOT BY THE FOOD, but by how we got scammed and badly treated by their servers. Here is the story: we ordered a meal deal for 6 people, comes with a lobster rice. Their server insist that would be too small for us to eat so he asked us to get another lobster rice. we agree to the server and ask how much will that be, he NEVER answer with a price as he keeps saying "normal market price" and he keeps saying is ok and is good. We trusted him so we say ok to order an extra one. The meal then comes with 2 SAME lobster rice with some other dises that comes with the meal deal. After we ask for bill, we are surprised that the meal cost us 150 but the extra lobster rice cost us 120 alone. It is written that the lobster is a 2.5 lb with $47/lb. Then we realized we got scammed because that the server NEVER show us or tell us how big is the lobster and NEVER tell us the exact price of the lobster like $/lb. (So that they basically can write $100/lb and we ordered a 5lb lobster or something even what it comes is a crayfish!!!!). Even when we are eating (before realized that we got scammed), they are rude and keep asking if we finished eating even there are 2 dishes are still coming. They are rude and not honest to their customers, I suggest not to trust them and just order what is on the menu and NEVER take up what they suggest and remember to check your bill because we also found that there are other dishes that are supposed to be cheaper price but they deliberately order the one with higher price and even we asked they just say that one is a bit bigger but we just dont know it and there is NO...
