Walked in with maybe 2 tables occupied plus us. Soon as we got seated more people came in. Our order was taken, but around 3 minutes wait we've decided to add an appetizer so our kids can eat while we wait for the rest of our food.
The appetizer came in at a decent time. We've noticed that the people who came after us have gotten their food and almost finished but we still haven't gotten any of ours. 40 minutes into our waiting one of the servers came to us and mentioned they forgot to send in our order and it would take another 5 minutes. At this point, we had no choice, we've waited long enough and our kids were already expecting food to get served so we waited another 5 minutes.
I gave my little one her food and our other kid was happily eating his but I've noticed that my youngest wasn't eating hers so I asked if she didn't like the food and what was wrong with it. She mentioned it tasted funny. When I looked the pork was still raw. So, I told her to spit out the rest of her food. When one of the server came we mentioned that the pork was still raw. She took it away and another server came. First he apologized but continued on with "we pre-make our food and we either put it in the cooler or the freezer, we cook it but unfortunately we tried". NOT the best response. You can't just say you "tried" when the food you're supposed to serve people is not cooked properly, food poisoning is not a joke specially to tiny bodies.
I'm pretty sure you're aware of food safety and replying with "unfortunately we tried" is not acceptable. They offered half off on one of the meals. I didn't even care if we got a half off on one meal. I was expecting a better response or you probably could have offered a different meal but I know my little would have declined eating after that. A better apology would have gotten you a nicer review.
Peanut dip was good, the sub my son had was liked, my husband loved his coffee. Everything else isn't as impressive as we had hoped compared to other places we've gone to.
A pretty disappointing experience specially when the reason we went was the glowing reviews.
Service was poor, food was poor,...
Read moreamazing new restaurant (much better than the one it replaced). The portions of food are fantastic with a lot of quality ingredients. I've gone 6 or 7 times and have always left satisfied. the taste is not too oily or salty, seasoned just right. the servers are great, pleasant and professional. they offer me tea while I wait for pickup, which is something I always appreciate. they accept all credit card payment networks (visa, mastercard, amex). I really hate going to cash only restaurants or restaurants with terminals that actually accept amex but they physically stop you from trying. let me pay the way i want, dont tell me how. if the terminal rejects it then ill change it, i dont need little aggressive paper signs taped to the terminals. none of that nonsense with the establishment. since taking over from mr red, i like that they simplified the decor so that it feels cleaner (probably easier to clean too), and improved the ventilation in the dining room so you don't always leave so smelly. in my opinion, it has been an improvement in all aspects.
I have tried all of their chicken dishes, and loved every single one of them. look forward to returning. I only hope they can keep up this momentum, this quality, value, service, and...
Read morePho Viet Lotus is a newly opened pho restaurant taking over from Mr. Red. The decor seems to have dropped a notch or two, looking like a plain, no-nonsense pho joint. However, the service and food make up for it. We ordered the Lemongrass Chicken Vermicelli with spring rolls. Compared to other Vietnamese restaurants, it’s a massive bowl, and they weren’t stingy with the meat and vegetables! The spring rolls too were stuffed more generously than other places.
We also got the Bun Bo Hue, which was also good. If I had anything to comment on, it’s that the serving of bean sprouts and herbs was a little small, but I suppose you could always ask for more.
We’ll be back!
OK, second visit: Pho was solid. In fact, it had more beef than I needed! I liked the broth as it wasn't as sweet as some other restaurants, however, the aromatics were a little on the mild side. The noodles were great, they are wider than usual, almost like cantonese ho fun, which I prefer.
There could have been more bean sprouts and basil/mint, but just ask for more if...
