This is for all person of colours! Whether you might be brown or black or Asian/ Mexican. There are some racist people around you and you have to careful. I saw couple of Caucasian ladies dancing right. Beside me, I was in my own zone and dancing and unfortunately my hand touched her head while dancing (it was Jam Pack) right away I said sorry but the ladies were using foul language and calling me names and telling me to move to the corner, even though I apologized! Whether any one of you trust my story or not I’ve been to many clubs and worked as promoter for clubs, never have I ever experienced this kind of hate. The way she was pushing me and calling me names and ran towards the bouncers, and made a complaint, while they were complaining I went back into my zone, and then after ten minutes or so, the bouncers were watching me( I didn’t even know) after watching me for few minutes they came to me and said (hey! We have complaint about you) I told them everything that happened meanwhile they were watching my actions as well and found that I don’t go around touching anyone. And they said we saw you being respectful and not being a ahole like the girls that said about you and told me to be careful. I was there for a night to spend a happy time and to integrate in the culture unfortunately people might not be happy that you being there. It’s breaks my heart because I show nothing but respect to each and every person around me regardless of colour and then comes these cheap minded people. A big thanks to the bouncers for being there and not judging by my colour but by my actions. This is a warning to the people of colour. Be safe brothers and sisters. Do I come to these place again? Never ever! I’m writing these review my way home and it give me chills to the bone that some peoples false accusations might make your day worse. Good...
Read morehad such a good time… UNTIL I went outside to cool off
so my friend and I got here around 1030 and spent a couple hours dancing and drinking. I think I spent around $90 on drinks. After being on stage and dancing and getting very sweaty for about 8 songs we went outside to cool off. This was when my problems started.
My stamp, unfortunately, rubbed off. I was VERY sweaty. Dancing does that to you, weirdly.. I also washed my hands twice since I arrived. sometimes when you drink you have to pee. WILD.
Anyways…When I tried to go back inside, they told me I wasn’t allowed in and I would have to wait in the line and pay cover again. He told me that the stamps didn’t wash off, ever (somehow). Like this was some sort of actual tattoo and not just… A stamp. I explained that I just came outside to cool off. Didn’t help. I showed them credit card charges totaling $90 from the night. Didn’t help. He asked the woman who let me in. she confirmed she recognized me. ALSO DIDNT HELP. I felt like I was in the twilight zone. The most insane part was I walked by BOTH said bouncers to go outside. I wasn’t being sneaky. I wasn’t hiding anything. Just trying to cool off and then hopefully spend $50-$100 more there before calling it a night. I was ready to let loose!
anyways, the bouncers made sure to berate and belittle me in front of a crowd of people and it was really embarrassing!! After spending over a hundred bucks there it was the biggest slap in the face. I have never been treated like that in my life. I came with the best intentions and was treated like a crook. WILD.
I hope the two guys at the door enjoy their power trip. I will be contacting mgmt in addition to this review because this entire experience was absolutely absurd.
Loved the bar, loved the DJ, loved the night up to this. Wish I was leaving with a better memory...
Read moreFirst of all - I will say that this used to be one of my favourite venues in Vancouver. I used to have my birthdays here, and it was the first place I would refer friends and out of towners to when they were looking for a night out. I would say The Fox has not kept up with its competition, both in terms of variation in its late night acts, or in terms of its customer service.
On Saturday, March 2nd, I was at the Fox for part of the Let's Hear It showcase/festival. This is an event where guests have wrist bands and are encouraged to see artists at four different venues on Main Street. My friend and I considered checking our jackets, but since their coat check does not include in and out privileges, we decided to leave our jackets on the bench next to the ATMs (risky, I know). Many people had left jackets on other benches throughout the venue. We then went to the front of the venue for a 30 minute set. We went to leave, and out jackets were gone. We were worried someone had stolen them. We went to ask at coat check if somehow they had ended up there, and the rude staff member said yes, staff had brought them over. She would not return our jackets unless we paid the coat check fee. This is just bad business - I have paid for coat check at the Fox and would continue to, but now I don't want to go back. I'm also fairly certain this is a violation of Division 3 of the Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act. https://www.bclaws.gov.bc.ca/civix/document/id/complete/statreg/04002_00_multi#division_d2e1166 To the Fox - you may want to ensure your business practices are legal and, even if they are, you should treat your previously loyal...
