Cool vibe and great food! The interior is spacious with some appropriately funky decorations, lots of seating. They have dim sum on weekdays after 12 and breakfast sandwiches available during all open hours, and an extensive drink menu with specialty coffee and tea drinks. There are also baked goods, though I don't think these are made in house and they didn't look that appealing to me, but I didn't try any so I can't really judge. They also serve alcohol including beer by House of Funk. I visited twice. The food I tried was the OG breakfast sandwich with tempeh and the chickpea club, and to drink I had a summer fling (hojicha latte with rhubarb puree) and a ginger lemongrass kombucha on tap. The bun that the breakfast sandwich comes on is amazing! It's soft like a potato roll but the crust is almost flaky like a pastry or brioche. I visited with different friends both times and everyone else that had a breakfast sandwich also commented on the bun. Tempeh is one of my favourite foods so I really liked the tempeh! The chickpea sandwich was very tasty but really messy - everything kept sliding off the sandwich. The dressing was slightly oily for my taste. The summer fling hojicha was really good - the hojicha was quality and the rhubarb puree complimented it well. Strawberry matcha/hojicha is having a big moment now but I liked the rhubarb better than strawberry with the hojicha - smoother and less acidic, which complimented the hojicha well. Good...

"the yuzu-al" = $7.50 - "isn't this grey-t" = $7 - ham and cheese croissant = $6.50 -
If you like Funk Coffee, you're going to have a great time at their brick-and-mortar location right across from the Burrard Sky Train station.
When we visited, they had two seasonal features that caught our eye. If you like puns... you're in for a treat 🫡 "The Yuzu-al" is a yuzu cold brew served with a rosemary sprig on top, just for that extra hit of aroma. Tasting this made me very interested in trying a yuzu espresso tonic 🤔 "It's Grey-t" is the lavender lovechild between a London Fog and a matcha latte. Best of both worlds and amazingly refreshing! 👌
While we were there, we also grabbed a ham and cheese croissant by Ex Animo and we were HOOKED. The everything bagel seasoning works so well with the savoury ham and cheese combo, and the pastry itself was so flaky and...
Read moreI’m surprised there aren’t any reviews about the dumplings. It looks like FUNK has been offering dumplings on the menu for a while.
I got the spicy chili dumplings as everything about them sounded so amazing. I was dismayed there were only 4 dumplings and a little wood ear salad, a little too pricey at $12.60 incl. tax, but the taste made up for it. I was happy that the dumplings were juicy and cooked well. I have never had mushroom dumplings specifically, so these were a delightful surprise. However, I would say that they’re not spicy despite the name, but I’m Korean, so take that as you will.
This coffee bar used to be a Bank of China branch, and I was really pleased by how they were able to transform the space. There’s a lot of seating and they made good use of the interior layout. There’s even a photo booth.
I would probably come back to try...
