Had a lovely dinner with my partner in the context of the Vancouver Dine Out Festival. We had the 130 dollar tasting menu which was excellent. Ste star among the starters was definetly the Lobster Stuffed Portobello Mushrooms which deserve commendation among all the starters not only offered here but within the Dine Out Festival in general. Main courses where generous but refined with the Salmon Wellington stealing the show. However the Stake did hold its own, especially thanks to an excellent sauce (though from previous experiences in this restaurant I have to say the upgrade to Wagyu is mandatory). Sides where solid and did their job well (while being a bit small compared to the main course) and I have to say I would not expect being impressed by mashed potatoes. Desserts where not our cup of tea honestly but that is more of a knock on the limited selection provided by the Festival than the restaurant itself. The panna cotta was masterfully prepared and highly instagrammable in looks but just not what I was looking for tonight. The Banana Dessert on the other hand was great. Service was excellent and I want to make my sincerest compliments to out servers. Docking one point on atmosphere due to a relatively long wait at doors and our specific table being a bit constrictive in space, especially for someone my size. Also the music choices are aggressively 90s and 00s, that may be your cup of tea or not. We enjoyed the selection. The place looks fantastic (as long as you can get a table on the upper floor balcony) and is the right mix for casual and fancy that can equally serve for impressing a date or a colleague if you have money to spend or for a special occasion dine out for your more average family. This is my third time eating here (work lunch, graduation dinner and now a date) and will gladly return. Most of the Glowball location are genuine gems in Vancouver

From the moment we walked into Black and Blue, it was clear we were in for a memorable dining experience. The ambiance set the perfect stage with its sleek, modern decor and warm lighting, creating a welcoming yet sophisticated atmosphere. But what truly elevated our evening was the service provided by Lidia. From the outset, her attention to detail was impeccable. She greeted us with a genuine smile and immediately made us feel at home. Her knowledge of the menu was extraordinary—she guided us through the options with enthusiasm and insight, helping us make informed choices based on our preferences. Lidia’s recommendations were spot-on. She suggested a selection of appetizers that were nothing short of culinary masterpieces. The flavours were vibrant and perfectly balanced, showcasing the kitchen's skill and creativity. Throughout the meal, Lidia checked in just the right amount, ensuring our drinks were refreshed and that every aspect of our dining experience was exceptional. Her personalized touch and thoughtful service truly set her apart. It wasn’t just about bringing us our food; it was about making sure we felt valued and cared for every step of the way. She was attentive without being intrusive, and her genuine passion for her work was evident in every interaction. As the evening came to a close, Lidia made sure our experience ended on a high note, recommending a dessert that was as delightful as the rest of the meal. Her exceptional service was the highlight of an already outstanding dining experience at Black and Blue. If you're looking for not just a meal but an unforgettable experience, I wholeheartedly recommend visiting Black and Blue and letting Lidia take care of you. Her exceptional service truly transforms a great meal into a remarkable memory.

My wife and I visited while in Vancouver. The place caught our eye as we were on our way to Stanley Park. Upon entering, you immediately know that you’re in a great steakhouse! There is a towering glass dry aging room that hosts every cut of beef imaginable. We get shown to our table. The waiter is subtle but extremely nice and easy to strike up a natural conversation. We ordered the beef tartare- table side. It was topped with a slice of foie gras. We also ordered some fresh oysters. The seafood sauce was the best we’ve ever tasted. Amazing. For our main, we opted for the 30oz cowboy cut rib eye, lobster mashed potatoes and table side Cesear salad. For such a thick steak, it was cooked to a perfect medium rare. There was a char on the outside, but not burned. The mashed potatoes were of perfect consistency with half a tail and one complete claw of lobster meat nestled in the top. Delectable! The table side cesear salad had the perfect house made croutons that were both crunchy on the outside with a slight softness or chew in the Center. The perfect crouton. We followed the main with a refreshing shrimp cocktail to enjoy more of the seafood sauce. The shrimp were absolutely huge. During dining, sommeliers were gathering the finest selections of wine to accompany the diners meals. They were all very informative. I ordered an alcohol free Arnold Palmer. You can instantly tell it was made in house as there are notes of herbs, almost like rosemary that hits certain parts of the palate. Very refreshing, not too sweet. The vibe in the room was very comfortable, not stuffy at all. They had great background music playing that wasn’t overbearing. Will return on our next visit to Vancouver.

Black+Blue is simply outstanding—a perfect destination for a truly elevated dining experience. From the moment you step in, the ambiance is impeccable. The chic, dark interior design feels luxurious yet inviting, setting the stage for an unforgettable meal. The attention to detail is everywhere, making it clear that this restaurant is built on excellence. For drinks, we started with prosecco and a mango cocktail, both refreshing and crafted to perfection. Each sip was a delight, striking a perfect balance between flavor and sophistication. As for the appetizers, the oysters were incredibly fresh and bursting with briny goodness—a must-have for seafood lovers. Then came the Crispy Calamari, which is, without a doubt, a star dish. Its perfect crunch, paired with rich flavors, made it utterly addictive. Honestly, you’d regret skipping it! The steak house nachos were also incredible—layered with hearty flavors and just the right amount of seasoning. Every bite felt like a treat. We were celebrating my wife's birthday, and the staff surprised us with a butter cake that went above and beyond any dessert expectations. It was warm, buttery, and rich, with a taste that lingered beautifully. This small but thoughtful gesture made the night even more special, and that cake is something we’ll be talking about for a long time. In every way, Black+Blue exceeded our expectations. It’s a place where flavor, service, and atmosphere come together seamlessly, making it an absolute gem. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a refined, memorable dining experience.

We were here for a wagyu tasting dinner menu. In short, the service was decent but the food did not quite reach our expectations. First of all, I find it odd that our coats were not checked and I’ve noticed there’s a coat check service. Our waiter was very polite and friendly but a bit lacking in ways I’ll mention later. For the food part, we ordered wagyu steaks and the waiter suggested us to have it done medium (That’s the first time we’ve heard a wagyu is suggested to be done medium, normally medium rare), but I trusted the waiter to know the kitchen better than me so I took his suggestion. The food took quite a long time to be served, overall slightly more well done than my liking but acceptable, however one of the Japanese wagyu was definitely overcooked. The manager came and offered to replace the piece, which I accepted. At least the replacement steak was done perfectly. At the end of the dinner one of the dessert fork was not even straight, which we just mentioned to the waiter but didn’t ask for anything. The waiter offered a small discount for the fork but when the bill came, that wasn’t applied. We just paid the bill and left. Overall the quality of the wagyu steak with that price tag I’d expect them to be better. That being said, I really liked the shrimp cocktail and beef carpaccio though! PS. During our meal, we overheard the couple 2 tables down also had a complaint to the manager about the overdone steak they got. So we definitely weren’t the only one having overdone steak that night.

Where to begin? We dined on the rooftop, and the setting was amazing. Very beautifully decorated, and still very warm with fire places and heaters, covered as well so no worries for poor weather. The staff was super thorough and went over the menu in-depth. They brought out the selection of steaks for us to compare the marbling and give us more insight to which steak we should order. Above and beyond really, they even showed us our specific cuts before cooking them to ensure they were up to our standard. Our appetizers were the Carpaccio, Crab cake, and oysters. Some of the best west coast oysters I have had. The carpaccio was super tasty and high quality. The crab cake exceeded my expectations; perfect crunchiness, with an excellent taste profile. We ordered 3 steaks, the Canadian striploin, the a5 wagyu strip-loin, and the cowboy steak. The strip-loin was a tad overcooked; but Sumeet, the manager, was super kind and helpful and removed the steak from our bill all together. Our friend just had a baby, and they gave us a free dessert too; the Butter Cake. The Butter Cake is a must try!! So delicious, warm, a bit crunchy, sweet, just phenomenal. Honestly the dessert was the highlight of the night as it was super unexpected as well. 10/10 would recommend coming here. Ive been to Elisa and Rileys, Chop and a few other steakhouses but none of them put on an experience such as Black + Blue. They really outdid themselves. Highly recommend checking out the rooftop as well!
