Giancarlo Cafe — Restaurant in Vancouver

What a wonderful find and truly lovely people. Our breakfast was delicious - I just got a basic breakfast but everything was cooked fresh, perfectly, and tasted phenomenal. My Americano, however, blew me away. It was one of the best coffees I have ever had, easily the best I've had outside of Italy. To make this place even better? The staff was absolutely lovely. Excellent service all around. Very kind and welcoming, great banter. Restaurant was clean, bright, and I loved the mix of modern with rustic touches like the brick walls and stone arch into the kitchen area.

You can tell this is a place with heart - lots of regular customers were there, but we never felt like we were outsiders or anything like that. It was a warm and friendly environment. My partner visited this store while walking around Commercial Drive for Italian Day. The pictures of the cannoli's outside the store looked really good but the actual product was really poor. The cannoli was the size of my pinky finger, soggy, and we suspect the filling to be expired. The "cream" resembled powdered parmesan cheese and crumbled when you touched. We asked for a replacement but the new cannoli were the exact same. For the same price as a cannoli from Fratelli Bakery up the street, the quality is appalling. My daughter, MIL and I spend a week in Van recently and I am so happy I discovered this little gem. We ate breakfast here multiple times and always loved it! They had full, heavy meal options and also light options, which was nice because it was hot! It took one day for them to learn my name and how I liked my ice coffee. It had a real sense of community, not just a restaurant....
