TLDR: I was served meat (I’m vegetarian of 8 years) & was not given an apology.. just an argument
I don’t make a habit of writing negative reviews, unfortunately my experience at Indo Chinese Street Wok warrants it. I’d eaten at this restaurant several times so I knew what to expect: inattentive service, menus with AI generated photos and funny hand written edits, and of course the strange silent atmosphere of the nearly empty restaurant occasionally being broken by several loud 2010’s club songs on the speakers, again followed by silence. BUT, what can I say? The food and cocktails are yummy, you can almost always get a seat in the front window, and it’s local to me - so I’ve given it a chance or 3.
Last night was my final time dining in. The service here is not just bad, but negligent. Although the server was mild and sweet, her clear lack of training and attentiveness, in combination with our language barrier led to the worst dining experience of my life. Long story long, my order (a veg noodle dish) never made it to the kitchen because the server left our table mid-order to get a notepad. She then served a different table, getting their orders, before returning to ours and taking down my boyfriend’s order (a chicken noodle dish). When the first dish arrived she put the bowl down in front of me and I began to eat, by the time I was nearly done I called her over and asked when my boyfriend’s food would be ready. She was confused explaining this WAS his food, seemingly having completely forgotten that I had ordered before anyone else. I tried to explain this, and why it was upsetting that I was given a dish with meat as a vegetarian, instead of listening and being understanding she again affirmed that this IS what he had ordered. I asked for the bill and she protested, saying they were now making the dish I ordered, and she again tried to justify her actions. I began to get teary, upset about breaking vegetarianism, and badly wanting to leave, I demanded the bill. I was given no apology or consolation.
I can understand how what happened was a simple mistake, and I empathize with the difficulty one must face in serving in a second language, but the lack of training in good service practices is galling. I’m left feeling upset and totally...

TLDR: server drinks on the job, they forget about your food, never check on you, never bring water, and the menu photos do not match up with what you order (generated ai). Also they clearly review bomb their own place with friends because all the reviews have non relevant photos they're all the only review written...
Last night I came here with my friends for their birthday. The first thing we noticed was there was no one in here at 10:30pm on a Saturday...
Right from the start it was not great and got worse throughout the entire time. Let's start with the good: my friend got a birthday drink for free, and they were able to accommodate 7 of us.
Now let's get into it... First off, we had to ask multiple times for water / refills. The menu photos are entirely AI generated so nothing we ordered looked like the photos. The server was spotted drinking on the job twice (first time rum & coke, the 2nd was when he was getting our bill and cracked open a vodka soda can). When the drink were brought out, they brought out the birthday girl's drink LAST. None of our food was brought out together, so we were all eating at separate times. They forgot about the birthday girl's noodle dish for so long we had to flag them down when we were almost all finished eating... She had to eat awkwardly alone while we were all waiting. Only then did someone from the kitchen ask us about our food but it was only about the spice level??? This place is absolutely horrible. The food was as Indian and Chinese as...
Read moreThis pure vegetarian restaurant currently has ONLY take away or delivery food. It is an Indo Chinese Restaurant serving Indian Style Chinese Vegetarian foods, Spaghetti, Pasta & Sandwiches.
We tried the Chinese food yesterday & ordered the Veg Fried Rice, American Chopsuey, Chilli Baby corn , Manchurian Noodles , Chinese bale & Dragon noodles.
On the positive side -the food quality was good . Dishes well made & did not have the typical " fake indian chinese foods taste available in Vancouver -with a calcutta flavour" ! Food from Indo Chinese Street Wok was more authentic to Indian & specially Mumbai quality & delicious. However on the negative side, the quantities were very small & insufficient even for 2 people, dishes over priced for the quantity & did not reflect " value for money" . Also this "obsession" with Paneer was a disappointment. Paneer is NOT A CHINESE DISH & should be removed from the Menu. The American Chop Suey should have had more vegetable like small cauliflower pieces, carrots, beans etc & soft noodles -apart from the Crispy noodles. Another standard Chinese dish is chinese style fried Eggplant dish -spicy & tasty. In Chinese foods, usually each dish is sufficient for 3-4 persons & very generous in helpings - specially when it is Vegetarian food.
I trust the Owners take note of the above comments & start serving Large Quantities for the same price -instead of the small...
