EPIC! Delhi Fusion on Commercial Drive is EPIC!!!
Of my recent reviews (mostly Indian eateries), the top three so far have been
Akbar’s Own: Great food, flavour, service, & decor Hariyali Express: Great food, flavour, service, & decor but cheaper than Akbar’s
(There was also Tandoori Palace, which wasn’t great or even good. But I only went to once but that’s the same as all my other reviews. Not a top choice. Just mentioning it.)
And now we have Delhi Fusion: Great food, flavour, & service… the decor was fine but that doesn’t matter to me because… the cost of my orders were the LOWEST prices for TOP-NOTCH, great Indian food!! Cheaper than Akbar’s and even lower than Hariyali’s!!
I got the Chicken Madrasi. (The online menu says $13.99 but I’m pretty sure the paper menu said $14.99. Tiny complaint. No big deal.) The chunks of chicken were huge & plentiful! And when they were all gone, there was still plenty of sauce leftover!
The rice was great too, not mushy, all separated with enough bite to it. Both it & the chicken dish had a nice touch of cilantro (I could’ve used more than that but that’s another super-minor complaint).
And with some much wonderful leftover sauce, I ordered their plain naan. I was going to order roti as well because there was so much sauce left. Good thing I didn’t: The one naan order was only $1.99 and HUGE! Enough to wipe up the delicious sauce!
By the end of my meal, I was full, a bit past full perhaps. Not in such a long time have I had such a MASSIVE FEAST for so little cost!
(Their mango lassi, which I didn’t order, was listed on their menu as $4.99, the cheapest I’ve ever seen for mango lassis. I’ll try it the next time I go there.)
If you’re a stickler for decor, you might prefer Akbar’s or Hariyali (more dark, cushiony, and romantic).
Service was great. Food arrived in a reasonable amount of time.
They also listed some things I’d not seen on other Indian menus before: Momos (dumplings) in the styles of vegetarian, chicken, tandoori chicken (not listed on the online menu), & maybe lamb (also not on the online menu… or maybe I imagined lamb).
Also Vada Pav (“Indian burger”), which is enticing. Gonna try that out eventually. Also I’ve never seen shrimp pakora, onion bhaji, honey chili potato, or chicken lollipops on such menus before.
An odd thing to mention & possible point against them: It’s called Delhi Fusion and they have some Indo-Chinese dishes on the menu. I actually tried ordering the Szechuan chicken chow mein. I asked my server if it really was a fusion of Indian & Chinese flavours. She gave an unconvincing yes. Still, I might order it in the future just out of curiosity.
Anyway, this place is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! More proof that Vancouverites don’t need to go out to Surrey to get genuinely great...
Read moreI really enjoy this restaurant and all the food I've tried so far, and I've tried a lot of the items. The Samosas (Samosa Chaat) and Pakoras are the best I've had at any restaurant so far. I love their Cauliflower 65 as well, and I still have a lot more to try and enjoy from their extensive menu. No complaints at all!
The portions are very nice and large compared to many other restaurants charging more, and I hope they only get bigger while maintaining the much more reasonable and fair prices that they have currently. So many restaurants make their items too expensive to be able to return frequently, but I've been here three times in a very short amount of time and expect to return very regularly due to how enjoyable the experience has been every time so far!
Even their Kheer was delicious, and their Mango Lassi was affordable, beautiful (great for photos) and delicious (and they can adjust it to specifications by request probably since they are very accommodating and pleasant with all the customers I've seen them deal with).
I am also extremely pleased with their very late hours (they've just extended their Granville hours to a 3:00 A.M. closing time), since there are so few options available at late hours for people working or off work at later times! This is my favorite restaurant, with the best food that I've had in Vancouver, the people making the food really know what they are doing!
I highly recommend trying it out, and it is a safe bet to bring friends and guests to since the food has been very consistently good since their opening here on Granville in the Marpole area (near Marine Drive, and...
Read moreI was introduced to this place on Uber Eats when looking for late night delivery.
The food has been constantly excellent. The prices are reasonable and while not fast, takes the appropriate amount of time to be made fresh, then delivered from Commercial Drive to Downtown.
Items we order and recommend - Butter Chicken (this comes with a generous portion of rice)
Chicken Tikka - always cooked to perfection and very tasty. The quality of the chicken is excellent. Large chunks of breast meat. It also comes on a small bed of cabbage - both green & purple which is great. I also always request no onions and they are good with that.
Naan bread - 5 orders for the 2 of us. Always fresh and stays that way even the day after.
Raita - A Must !! We used to only order one, but now we order 2 so we each have our own. Lots of finely shredded cucumbers & carrots in a delicious yogurt. *Pro tip add some lime or lemon to this to kick up the flavour a notch !
We have ordered the Paneer Pakora appetizer a few times, but we weren’t huge fans of it.
Overall really Great taste & quantity for the most part. Only complaint would be the mango ice cream while very tasty is a rather small portion !
Other then that - we can get 3 meals out of this. For the apx 50$ Cost- it’s a great value !
Definitely recommend &...
