Came there 10pm, which was the time they close and asked them if they do carry out since I did not want to bother them or stop them from going home. They actually said come on in and dine in! That was one of the nicest things a restaurant has done for me! I was on a 12 hour sight seeing and everything was pretty much closed.
I ordered as fast as I could and I got the spicy pot stickers, chili chicken, combination fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, butter chicken and fried banana with ice cream for dessert. The service took just a bit longer.
Spicy pot stickers was really good, kind of a twist on regular pot stickers. Crispy on the outside and soft in the inside
Chili chicken was fried on the outside lathered in spicy but not too spicy sauce. The chicken was soft and cooked well.
Sweet and sour chicken was also well cooked. It wasn't that super extremely tangyness that alot of restaurants use but just the right amount of sour.
Butter chicken was really really good!!!! Savory butter and spices mixed into a delicate dish prepared and served in a metal bowl that keeps it warm. The only issue is that it's extremely small serving for the price! Like literally a handful of chicken and I'm not talking about a giant's hand, like a normal size handful of chicken
The combination fried rice was okay. It needs just a bit more sauce. All the meat tastes normal and the shrimp doesn't have a fishy taste!
The fried banana was really good but just as you expect from the popular dessert. Ice cream and hot fried banana! Always should try this!
All in all even if the butter chicken servings was small, this is a awesome place and their customer service and willingness to take in people after they closed is a...
Read moreI am giving one star to this place only because the food was eatable and had some taste. Not the best hakka in the world but honestly the service provided is rediculous. We ordered fried rice and dai ching chicken and the rice quantity was not enough for two people and we had alot of curry left. So once we finished eating the rice, husband wanted to order noodles and try it out as well. So we asked the server for a menu. I immidiately was made to feel guilty. He gave us the menu and came back and asked if we are ordering sweets. The way he asked us made it feel so awkward. I told him no we are looking to order more food and he looked at us so judgementaly and said "oh ok" and a lady came and was about to take the curry to pack i told her we are not done yet. I asked the guy if there is a rush of some sort and he struggled to even respond. Then after we ordered noodles not even few mins and another girl came and asked us if we want to pack our food. I told her we ordered food and i dont understand what this rush is and she said oh you ordered more food ok and just looked at us judgementally again. I told her i feel awkward because of this behavior from them and i no longer feel to eat here and want to leave. Her reply: " ok sorry, so should i pack your food" as she started to take the plate away. like really? My husband had to take the plate back from her and say to leave it. Such dissappointment. I wouldve rated this place much higher and now i am disgusted. I am no longer excited to eat the noodles either. This is proof for restaurant owners around that your food may be A+ but if service sucks that ruins your...
Read moreOn Thursday Feb 15th we had a terrible experience at Green Lettuce Restaurant located in Burnaby. Me and my family love to eat there. We always try to ignore a server there. Her name is Lucy. She has repeatedly shown her edgy and rude attitude at different visits. Thursday Feb 15th lunch time me and my husband were at the restaurant, along with our 5 years old girl. She had a pack of MacDonald fries with her. As this is the only food stuff our little daughter eats from outside. And she is totally allergic to milk and egg. Lucy seated us, and straight away said plainly that you are not allowed to bring outside food into the restaurant. My husband replied politely that our daughter has allergies, and is a picky eater due to this. And a pack of fries is hardly a full meal. However, Lucy’s behaviour turned rude instead of accepting our reply. She spent many more minutes at our table “telling” us that why she was rude. I couldn’t believe her naivety and rudeness. At which we asked the restaurant manager to come. Peter, the manager, came and sent Lucy back. He was polite and apologized for the behaviour of Lucy. We told him that this rude reception had ruined our dining experience, and we left from the Green Lettuce restaurant without ordering food. We went to Chilli Pepper House restaurant to eat. There the server told us that it's totally fine if your daughter wants to eat MacDonald fries here. We never had this kind of experience before in any restaurant anywhere. We told the manager, Peter, that anybody working in restaurants and serving industry should keep their edgy and rough attitude at bay before...
