Update August 22, 2019: Tried the Falafel Plate ($9.99) today. Impressed that the falafels were formed and fried a la minute rather than just warmed up. This ensured that the chickpea fritters had a very crispy crust and tender soft interior. Served atop their silky hummus, they were delightful. The plate included a green salad, torshi (pickled turnips) and a very bright tasting tabbouleh salad. Along with the pita, this plate was delicious and so fresh. Who needs meat? ....Although, I will be back to try the newly added lamb on their growing menu.

I've had my share of Middle Eastern shawarma plates whilst working in the West End and Downtown Vancity. The flavours are familiar and I'm sad to say, most have gotten very pedestrian. I'm very happy to say that Zamzam Grill is not one of these places. I ordered the Chicken Plate ($11.99) and it was the best shawarma plate I've had in quite some time. The chicken was tender and a good mix of dark and white meat. The rice was so fluffy and the hummus was silky smooth. Combine this with a very friendly owner and a clean room and you have a winner! This is Ibrahim's (sp?) first restaurant and I wish him the best. Will return to try the homemade falafel. I love to support local independant businesses and Zamzam is off to a great start. Do drop by and...

Update reply !

Correction, you never said to come in . You told me 2hours wait don't be a liar and try to cover your buisnees up ! . And like I said the other shawarma spot on knight and 49th are well respected owners that deserv customers ! Because they treat customers with respect and will still take orders ! . Shame on zam zam for even replying back with dishonesty . Own up to your lies .

Disappointing ! I really wanted to try this place out since my friend reccomend it . I called at 4pm on a Friday. And wanted to place a pick up order. The moment I said pick up order. He disrespectfully cuts me off , and says 'No we are not doing any orders , we are running out of chicken you have to wait 2 hours. Like wth kind of a buisness that's a shawarma that runs out of chicken , my go to place is the shawarma down at knight and 49th now that place you will not be disappointed , they never run out of chicken and they are busy as hell! Always fresh and alot of chicken and homemade pita bread ! . Zamzam you need to have better customer services , cus since I just told my friend what happend , now you lost me and him...

Had eaten some of the best juicy/fresh shwarmas in UK in past; always on the hunt for a similar experience in Vancouver over the years.

This is truly a hidden gem of a shwarma place. Saw all the reviews; majority positive with rare occasional negative. Decided to check it out in person.

Ordered the loaded chicken shwarma wrap, eat in. The majority reviews were correct: Outstanding fragrant spices that hits taste buds; very similar to the UK experience.

The loaded chicken was truly loaded and best decision for 1st attempt. Chicken was succulent/moist. Lots of veggies/sauces blended so nicely. Other meats on the rotisserie looked invitingly fresh, dripping with juices- will be my next visit choice.

Very clean shop, bathroom very clean/tidy. Very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. There was a constant flow of preordered takeout by locals.

Personally, shwarma wraps are best eaten on site for freshness.

Easy to locate: east on Kingsway , past Victoria drive just before T n T...

I was craving some Middle Eastern food and luckily this new eatery was nearby my old neighbourhood. Four friends decided to come eat a late lunch with me. We were all welcomed by the owners. First we all ordered our choices, paid and then seated. The owners were very friendly and provided us with amazing service. The portion were just right, not too little and not too overly big. I ordered a Loaded Chicken Shawarma and it was super delicious. I pretty much devoured it. The samosa and felafel were fried very nicely. Amazing appetizers. There were 4 tables and couple countertop single seatings near the front window. Everything was clean and relaxing. I had a great Sunday lunch with my friends there. Totally will recommend my families and friends to try!

This place is the real deal. The owners use all fresh ingredients and exceptional quality meat and poultry. This is contrary to almost any other shop you’ll walk into in the lower mainland. It certainly tastes as authentic as any shop you’d visit in the Middle East. The level of quality and care put into each meal makes me want to boycott all other shawrma shops in the city! I had the mixed plate with chicken and lamb. The rice was cooked Iraqi style with Kabsa spices and onions. The hummus was perfect and the guy working the front told me that they make their hummus fresh daily and they even boil the chickpeas in house! The tabouli salad tasted like the one my grandma (RIP) used to make and the meat was out of this world! Highly recommended!
