ATTENTION!!! PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW INSTEAD OF OTHER UNNECESSARY AND MISGUIDED REVIEWS!!!! (A LOT OF THE REVIEWERS DON’T UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT OF THE RESTAURANT)
I here have travelled the world and eat at many sushi bars and restaurants or etc, so I would say I am very experienced with eating sushi.
Firstly, I would like to address that the concept of the restaurant is to be a convenient, fast sushi place. This is a restaurant in which in japan, it is called for business lunch. Customers come to eat swiftly and back to the office without chit chatting. 20 minutes and you’re done and go back to the office. It has a concept like ichiran (the no. 1 ramen in Japan if you know you know). This restaurant has a concept to eat by yourself and standing up usually in Japan.
Secondly, the ambience is beautiful and perfect! An architect expert here! Worth to see the design and architecture of the restaurant. Congrats!!!
Third, I would not say this is a backwater sushi which you can get like other Vancouver sushis around, including samurai sushi. You don’t get yellow tail, king salmon and lobster in many other backwater sushi restaurants. Moreover, many backwater sushi restaurants in Vancouver, including poke, serve cold, hard, and pungent smell fishes and seafood. You should give hello nori a thumbs up for making and serving your fishes and seafood properly.
Fourth, many people said that the place is nothing but an instagramable kind of restaurant. Bro please????? You can see my photos; I can roll like that too. AGAIN IT IS NOT INSTAGRAMABLE!
In summary, I did not queue to eat here, so totally defines the concept of the restaurant. Worth it or not? I think it is worth to try! If there’s a queue, it is a no. Also, it is quite expensive yes because getting fresh seafood is not cheap. This restaurant is like the canadian of sugar fish in the states. I would come here to eat fast and fulfilling if I really need to eat fast but proper food. Coming back? Not for me.
I would recommend for people to come to try! I hope this...
Read moreThis is the second time we visited Hello Nori. We really like the uncluttered prep space they have in the center, with two rice cooker stations, electric nori crispers, blow torch stations, and fridges with pre-cut raw fish. For some reason, this arrangement looks a lot cleaner and more appealing than a sushi counter. The nori crisper is very effective in keeping the nori crisp and just right for eating. Unlike regular sushi rolls, the nori used in hand rolls are not chewy. Once we were seated, our server proceed to tell us about the number of specials for that day. Unfortunately, both times, we have great trouble understanding what was said, the only words we recognized was wagu beef and $45. Since we no longer eat red meat, we didn't have to consider the special. In that regards, we can pretend that we are actually in Japan. Since I cannot eat eggs (i.e. mayo), the server kindly crossed off the items that I should not order. Some items on the set menus contains mayo, so I was free to order individual rolls. I ordered three Ora King Salmon hand rolls, one Yellow Tail hand roll, and one Unagi hand roll. My partner tells me that the Snow Crab, and Spicy Shrimp hand rolls were very delicious as well. The biggest problem I had with these hand rolls were their shape. The filling tended to come out of the other end on the last bit. So, I actually reshaped the hand rolls into cones which allowed me to add wasabi soy inside the hand roll. That worked a lot better in terms of avoiding a mess on the last bite. The rice was high quality sushi rice cooked with the right amount of water (of course). King Salmon is my favourite hand roll, I did not enjoy the texture of the Unagi. Both times, I felt like I ate a very unhealthy meal because of the lack of fresh vegetables (and I don't mean salads). Next time, I must remember to order some cucumber hand rolls! And finally, I love it that their kitchen does not handle...

Lovely experience and beautiful interior. Feels like your going into a small art gallery. Let’s get straight to the review!
Service: wonderful customer service. They greeted us right away and sat us down. All staff were friendly and checked up on us frequently . Friendly and sweet. Off menu/seasonal items were told to us right away before seeing the menu, which I really appreciate. This makes it easier to choose which items you want (I love seasonal items)
Food: I specifically chose the rolls I wanted. They do have a set of rolls but knowing myself I rather order the ones I want instead so all rolls tastes amazing. I ordered two seasonal items: wagyu - my favourite one (DELICIOUS) and unagi (eel, it is flavourful with some bbq sauce and torched. Delicious as well) King salmon roll: you can never go wrong with salmon lol Blue fin tuna: refreshing, wish it had a bit more tuna in there Eat the rolls right away so the seaweed doesn’t get soggy. You want the crispy crunch when eating these hand rolls. I see my gfs takin pictures and you can tell the difference of texture if you just leave it for 15 seconds. White peach drink: sweet and refreshing
Price: decent, it’s like an omakase but for lunch and more affordable than a full omakase dinner. For the service, quality and experience, the price makes sense. They add gratuity on the bill already so no need to tip unless you want to add more tip
Interior: looks like an art gallery, unique and pretty. Your sitting like it’s a bar layout and the chefs are all in the middle making the rolls for you.
Overall: I would come here again. It’s quick, fun and quality is there for the...
