This is a late review ( from September 15, 2021)
My group and I decided to have a light meal before dinner and we decided to go to Cin Cin. When we first arrived at 5 we were able to be seated earlier (our reso was 5:15 PM) however the host never asked us if we preferred the dining area or patio and we were sat at the patio on the end of the patio ( it could’ve been due to seating availability or because we were wearing base ball caps - even though when we left there was still seating inside and we have worn baseball caps here before) where there was a huge opening between their window pane and patio so there was alot of air coming in.
Our server was ok he did say “youre welcome” when we would say thank you but he didn’t make us feel welcomed at all or friendly in comparison to other local fine dining restaurants. When we ordered our food I asked the server to turn on the patio heater because we were cold, when we got our appetizer (where the bread had grill marks but it was burnt black) I asked the server again since it was still cold but he responded in a cold manner “I told my manager already it takes 30 minutes to heat up” which I was surprised because I worked at many different restaurants with heated patios and never experienced that.
When our main courses came the accompaniment for the lamb was incorrect (we wanted to sub all the accompaniments for the thyme roasted potatoes but it came out with the regular sides). At this point it didn’t seem like the heater was on and we were still cold (as we were literally at the end of the patio in the corner) and we didn’t feel warm at all until near the end of our meal after sharing a bottle of wine and ordering a cocktail each person... and at that point I don’t even think the heater was on as I kept on looking back at it and it looked the same (no orange/ ember color when turned on) and no heat.
At the end of the meal when we were paying we paid by cash and our sever asked “do you need change”. When working at a restaurant that serves less than 60 people I already learned that whenever you are bringing a bill to a guest the proper etiquette is: “I’ll bring you your change” not “do you need change” as there is a big difference between the two.. I felt like it was not professional at all nor did it feel like a “fine dining experience”, something that they are trying to portray themselves as. I left a review on seven rooms (their booking system) because it prompted me to but still haven’t heard anything back from...
Read moreWe had a lovely evening at CinCin hosted by Alex Andjelkovic. This is truly a five star dining experience in every respect. Sitting on the opposite end of the spectrum from establishments that slop piles of pasta on a plate, CinCin serves up fine cuisine in the Italian tradition. It is a dining experience where every detail is taken care of so the diner is perfectly satisfied at the end.
Starting with drinks, they number in the hundreds. The wine selection is one of the most impressively curated collections I have seen available in a restaurant. We had a gin martini that was about as perfect as it could be. The other cocktails were also delivered with expert care. The ginger beer is spicey and refreshing. The bartender is to be congratulated.
The food was an experience and thoroughly delicious. Let me address the question of portion size first. The portions are not small. There is a menu option where the course of dining consists of an appetizer, first (small plate) pasta course, second main course, and dessert. Diners can elect to also have the pasta as a full size main. We had a selection of of mains and pasta that were all excellent, without exception. The steak has a pronounced garlic seasoning that non-lovers of garlic may find strong. The pasta with spicy Italian sausage is fairly spicy. I offer this information as comment and not criticism, as my palate enjoyed all the flavors on offer.
The service is also excellent. This is a restaurant where the wait staff know when to approach the table, they know how to move around the diner, and they know their menu in perfect detail. They are friendly and respectful. This is not the place to expect a "colourful" experience with a saucy waiter. Here, the wait staff are professional and obviously proud of their role and restaurant.
The environment is also perfectly suited to the dining experience. Everything was clean and well maintained. The proximity to other diners left us lots of room. Even the music was perfectly selected and at a volume that suited the restaurant.
I can not fault CinCin in any respect. They offer a premium product at a fair price. It is not a place to drop in for a quick bite. Rather it is the main attraction for a fantastic evening out. Gather good friends and dine with them at CinCin and you will feed body and soul. It is three or so hours of therapy in a busy life. Truly a five star restaurant in...
Read moreI don’t know where to begin... I’ve been to this restaurant many times over the past 10 years and last night was my worst experience here. I’m an Opentable VIP and dine out quite often so I’m familiar with how service and food is supposed to be. First off, our reservation was at 9:45pm, thus the restaurant was less than a quarter full, yet they wanted to seat us on the patio outside in a corner as opposed to the main dining area. I asked for another table immediately. I don’t know why they would try to seat us there. Secondly, we ordered off the Dine Out Vancouver menu. Big mistake! While the desserts and Parsnip soup were good, the rest of the dishes were poor. The Prawns and Mushroom appetizer was poorly seasoned the sauce had no depth of flavor, just spice. We returned the Orrechitte al Ragu. The menu described the dish as braised beef, but it’s actually just ground beef. To make matters worse I was nearly finished my dish before we flagged the waiter down to return the dish. He didn’t check on us to see if we liked our food and as a result, by the time my wife got her replacement dish, I had already finished my food. The waiter was kind enough to substitute it out for anther pasta dish- Fusilli with calabrian chillies and cherry tomato sauce. This was better, but we couldn’t taste the calabrian chillies and asked for a side of calabrian chillies. We were told that they’re incorporated in the sauce and were brought chili flakes instead. Either the kitchen was out of of the calabrian chillies and didn’t incorporate them to begin with, or the waiter was just to lazy to ask the kitchen and didn’t think we’d be able to taste the difference. The Beef Strip Loin was ok, could use some seasoning and being served warm would help too. Thirdly we asked for coffee with our dessert. When it came, it was an Americano not drip coffee. I understand that Italian restaurants serve espresso as opposed to drip, but it would have been nice to have known that before we ordered. In closing, I’m quite disappointed in the Dine Out Vancouver menu, it suppose to be a chance to show off what you can do to attract more customers during the rest of the year, not to cheaply and quickly turn...
