I donโt typically leave reviews but this was one of the most overpriced and disappointing dining experiences Iโve ever had.
We went and sat as a table of four and ordered the cold noodles, seafood pancake, and three orders of the pork belly special. Each order is advertised as ~$30 for two servings, so three orders should have been six servings. What arrived, however, were just three plates: one noodles, one pancake, and one very small plate of pork belly. The portion was so minimal we assumed it was just a single order (two servings). We waited for the other two plates, but no server came to check in or clear dishes, making it impossible to follow up.
Nearly an hour later, after flagging someone down, the server rudely informed us that the tiny plate was supposedly all three orders (six servings). We were appalled โ especially since our other friendโs table, who ordered two pork belly specials (four servings), received a portion that looked equal to or larger than ours (photo attached).
Still hungry, we reluctantly ordered another three pork belly specials. After 30 minutes with no food (and the restaurant not even busy), we asked for the bill, assuming the order had been forgotten. Only as the card machine was being handed over did another plate of pork belly appear โ again claiming to be three orders (six servings). It was laughable. The meat was overcooked, dark, dry, and absolutely not worth the wait or the price.
When we questioned the serving sizes again, the server doubled down, dismissively insisting they were correct. In the end, we were charged for six orders (12 servings) of pork belly, totaling an outrageous $179.70. For that price, youโd expect generous portions, timely service, and at least some courtesy. Instead, we left hungry, frustrated, and completely ripped off.
This experience left such a bad taste in my mouth โ from the absurdly small portions to the dismissive service and ridiculous bill. I will never be back and will be warning all my friends and family to...
ย ย ย Read moreI don't think that this place deserves the rating that it has. Its definitely more than 3 stars!
The ambiance reminds me of one of those back in the day period k dramas, where the main characters have a meal in a tavern like place. Its super casual and you'll either get a booth or seated in one of those tables with fake chairs on the center bench, in the middle of the restaurant. We came into the restaurant in the middle of a downpour for lunch and they have an area to park your umbrellas at the front so you're not dripping water all over the restaurant.
I thought service was fast, we were seated immediately, got drinks quickly (there is also complimentary hot tea in carafes already on the table), and the food came out earlier than expected. Pricing on the dishes is kind of steep. $19 on average for an BBQ meat dish seems like it is on the higher side but one can feed two and you do get four complimentary Ban Chan side dishes (kim chee, turnip kim chee, Korean seaweed salad, and sweet soy potatoes) as well as rice.
I caution everyone on the spice level, you can choose of how spicy you want it and "spicy" is two degrees more than spicy. The hubby and I love spice but this was on the higher end of hot and we needed lots of white rice and beer to calm that fire down. Through all of that spice the chicken we ordered was delicious though. I can see of why others think that you don't get the value for what you are paying with the meat dishes. There isn't a lot of meat, and they do sub in loads of onions, mushrooms, zucchini slices, and those Korean dumpling circle noodle like pieces.
Our total bill came to $29 which is fabulous for lunch and I can see of why this is a popular place to get your...
ย ย ย Read moreI'll never visit this place again. Bad bad bad service ever. The guy at the cashier (tall and short beard, wearing a cap) is so rude. He seems like he doesn't even care about MANNERS. I've felt it every time I visit this place and today was the worst. He almost threw side dish plates away onto my table, put scissors like the sharp tips are pointing me just in front of my sight. Besides! I saw his thumb was poking my rice when he was dumping my lunch on the table. I just scooped away..ha. There weren't that many customers at the time, max. 7-8 tables? And there was 4 staffs working together. But he was so much in hurry. Everything happened so quickly. dump dump dump and disappeared. The other day, he was at the cashier as well. I hoped there was someone else..! He was on the phone asking something to his colleague, so I stepped back and was going to just wait until he hung up(it might important to them). But he HYSTERICALLY took and saw my bill and gave my change. He seemed to say something to me but I couldn't catch it, since he was still in middle of conversation on the phone, talking to me at the same time. Every time, while the other staffs were cleaning, setting and serving tables, he was just walking around and checking staff's working time loudly. It seems that his major job is cashier..with such ATTITUDE, well..yeah. What else can I do. I'll just go other Korean restaurants. And I won't recommend this place, since I care about my friends' getting happy experiences at any...
