I met Pete at my first Beanstock this year and, if I'm completely honest, I missed his booth on my first few walkthroughs. It was only when I bumped into a friend there that I was even made aware that the counter with absolutely zero signage (aside from a stamp on a TINY bag of beans on top of a GIANT machine) was indeed an active booth; it turned out, as my friend correctly put it, to have the best espresso at the show. I love the name because it accurately sums up my experience: no-frills, honest-to-goodness and delicious coffee without the distractions - just the way I like it. The customer service is anything but no-frills though! Not only do they deliver (thank you SO much Gillian!), but Pete spent precious time giving me tips on brewing methods that may work for me, making it very clear that his passion extends through his love for coffee to serving the people around him. As to how it tastes? This is the first time I have pulled a perfect shot straight from a fresh bag on my first try. My sister, whose sensitive palette has had so many sour experiences that she swore off drinking coffee, has decided to give coffee another chance after trying Pete's espresso at Beanstock. Go ahead and see for yourself - in the meantime I'll be enjoying my fresh 5lb bag of...

As someone new to specialty coffee I have been trying to visit as many different local coffee roasters as possible and I'm glad I found Pete. His method is one I have not tried before (air roasted) and after doing a quick google search as to the difference, I thought I would give it a try. Pete was very friendly and offered me a cup of coffee but I didn't have time to stay. To be honest dark roast isn't usually my preference but I really enjoyed this coffee. It had a very rich flavour but lacked the bitter aftertaste that I find other dark roasts often have. I have been enjoying it on it's own and some mornings I have mixed it with a lighter roast from a different shop and the result is probably one of the best cups of coffee I have tried! I would recommend to anyone that likes dark roast or anyone looking to try something unique that isn't sold at other places.

I'll also add that I appreciate the coffee that I bought was just roasted the day before so it...

Absolutely love this place! The coffee is genuinely delicious — one of the best I’ve had in the city. There isn’t much seating inside the café itself, but the surrounding space is full of creative energy.

This used to be someone’s home, and now it’s a super inspiring artistic hub. The founders are young and full of vision — you can feel it in every detail: cool boutique items, great music (yes, they actually have a playlist), sauna, cold plunge, neurographic art, and unique installations you can explore.

It’s the kind of place where you come for coffee and end up staying for the vibe. Already been here several times. Even the toilet is stylish! 😄

Highly recommend if you’re into creativity, good coffee, and a bit of...

Honest to Pete is an absolute gem of a coffee shop! Located in the neighbourhood of Mount Pleasant, this place is next to an art studio —it’s the perfect spot for a cozy break. I found this place through Google and was lucky enough to be served by Pete—a kind and passionate guy who not only makes great coffee but also roasts it right there. I paired my coffee with an immaculate chocolate chip cookie that was simply unforgettable. The space is small and informal, creating a warm, inviting atmosphere where you can easily have a quick chat with him and others. I’m so grateful to have stumbled upon this spot and will definitely be back! I heard that the biscotti is great as well. I’ll definitely try it when I’m free this week.
