Great taco place, been going to la taqueria before the moved from the Cambie and broadway location. Always fun to eat and authentic flavours. I especially love they have the pickled peppers and red onions which you can help yourself to. Although with covid I don’t think it’ll be self serve anymore. I find 6 tacos is the best quantity for me. Each one has unique flavour and they’re not afraid to use beef tongue. The grilled beef taco also has this wonderful char flavour to it. Every taco is like a dish on its own. Service is mostly self serve, they also have a giant sink in the dining room for you to wash your hands and you don’t have to wait for your turn at the washroom. Their churros is also really good, highly recommend getting the dolce de lèche dipping sauce to go with it.

If you're seeing this review, you're probably wondering "gosh darn, why is it rated so poorly?", well let me tell you. The food and drinks were great! Nachos? Spectacular! Margaritas? Superb! Tacos? Wait, where are my tacos? Please tell me how our tacos took over 30 minutes to make. We were one of the only 2 parties in the restaurant at the time. We ordered our drinks, nachos, and tacos. The drinks and nachos arrived on time, but the tacos didn't show up until waaay after we finished our nachos. We then asked the server for an update on our tacos and she came back to tell us it'd take another 10 minutes. Mind you, this is 30 minutes after we already placed our order. She asked us if we would like another round of drinks while we waited, so we obliged. The tacos came, they were great, we paid and left. Only later did I realize the drinks were not on the house (Our guest paid the table's bill for us, so I didn't find out until I inquired later). I find it disrespectful that we experienced unusually regretful delays in our order and were not appropriately compensated. Without apologizing and owning up to this mistake, this makes it seem as if this incident is the norm here. I love La Taqueria, and I've never been let down by their food for years. Until now that is. It's a shame that our happy hour experience was not as happy as it should've been. I cannot in good faith recommend this location based on this experience. Hopefully no one else's tacos will be lost in the kitchen as ours were. The real kick in the shin was seeing a new party show up, place their order, and watching them receive their tacos in a timely manner. Wish that was us.

Wanted to try this place out as my partner and I were craving tacos after work, would not go back. Service felt like they were irritated with customers and wanted to just close up and go home. No smiles here. Placed an order Togo and sad to say that we were not satisfied. To start the guacamole and chips were disappointing. You could tell that there were a significant amount of tomatoes over avocados. Did not taste like guac, it tasted like tomatoes. The chips that were included had an oily residue that tasted like it was fried in old oil. We ordered 3 of the same tacos each, so 6 in total. I specifically asked for no onions on one of my tacos and I open the box up to onions on my taco. Took a bite of my first taco and noticed the lack of flavour and the tortilla was soggy. My partners tacos fell apart as she took it out of the box, the oil from the meat had seeped through the tortilla and it broke through. We ate the tacos within 10 mins of picking up my order and bringing back home and nothing was hot, not even warm. Paid $30 for nothing, not worth the price for the amount that you’re getting. Would not recommend, tacofino is 5 mins away and 10x better than here. Tacobell does better.

oh boy- hmm.. where can I start.. So I went here with a group for an extra late Christmas dinner the other day, and I was really let down.. Let’s start with the drinks, my god- the Mango Paradise is almost undrinkable. It’s labeled as a cocktail even though it’s presented as a margarita which I hate because I don’t enjoy salt rimmed drinks which is why I order cocktails in the first place, and then when I took a sip I nearly had to spit it back out. It was as if I was drinking straight stale tequila! No mango taste, no flavour, just pure alcohol. I had to ask to make sure I got the right drink which apparently I did but- it does not match the description given whatsoever. Then when the food arrived I had the nachos which were really tasty, but the ramen……. I wouldn’t have it haha~ it just tasted like beef soup with noodles, I wouldn’t consider it a ramen myself.. According to my mom her burrito she had was also almost inedible.. overall it the atmosphere was nice and the service was kind but man the food and drinks need an upgrade…

We’ve been coming to La Taqueria for years and it’s always been one of our favorite spots, so we were really surprised by tonight’s experience. We ordered tacos separately, but they all arrived on one plate, which felt a bit off. On top of that, the tacos came without any of their usual toppings, and after asking for them to be added back, they returned cold and still missing key elements like the black beans on the new chicharrone taco(which we were specifically coming to try tonight) . The salsas were also brought out so late that we were already halfway through our meal. We know this isn’t the norm for La Taqueria, and we’ve always loved the quality and care that goes into the food here, so this visit felt a little disappointing. We’d love the chance to come back and enjoy the experience we’re used to — hopefully with everything back to the high standard that makes this place so special!

Edit: the manager reached out and offered to make things right a few days later. Further they explained that they were understaffed and working on training, so I upgraded my review. //// The hostess charged me regular price during happy hour (I wasn't aware it was happy hour). I only realized because she told a customer ordering after me that he could get happy hour pricing if he put in his order in the next few minutes. I went home, checked my receipt and realized she had overcharged me. I reached out to them via their customer feedback qr code and was asked to send them a copy of the receipt. I did as asked and didn't hear back... I followed up the next day and still did not hear back..... I regret tipping and visiting this location. The North Van and downtown locations are much friendlier and more honest.
