BC government the one lead the inflation by raising so much tax , no more plastic bag allow stores have to use paper bag and can charge 30 cents , governments allow 30 cents for the bag , stores know governments ok for them to raise the prices why not keep raise prices , this Fraser st location not friendly , lady owner and staff are very cold never smile not a warm welcome place , pastry cost 30 cents they sell for average $3:50 and never fail every time they ask do you want a bag for 30 cents while it cost them 5 cents from China , the owner so greedy , please stop it asking people do you want a bag for 30 cents you made more than enough why want to take 30 cents more , before bag is free stop being greedy , maybe CRA should audit the owner flour butter sugar very cheap to buy stop raising prices you make enough money , enough is enough don’t be greedy people will just stop buying and cook at home , many restaurants are dead because they’re greedy , people just cook at home that’s why many supermarkets are full because people cannot afford to eat out , I can’t stand it when every store ask do you want a bag for 30 cents , just STOP IT before free if people want...

This Maxim's stocks the standard selection of sweet and savoury Chinese pastries. A nice touch here is the hot steamed buns. The baked goods are affordable as expected. It looks like they also have cheap coffee and tea, but cheap in quality, not just prCash only. There are some tables inside or some picnic tables on the nearby closed street. The place looks a little dated and dim. I got a vegetarian steamed bun and a fruit cocktail cake. The steamed bun, kept nice and warm, was soft and the veggies inside were savoury and crunchy. I'd recommend this. It was my first time trying a Chinese fruit cocktail cake - I always would see them at Chinese bakeries and be tempted - so I have no basis for comparison on other fruit cocktail cakes, but I enjoyed theirs. The cake was light with lots of fruit in the filling. It seemed a bit sweeter than the Asian cakes I'm used to. The sweeter cake and frosting in combination with the fruit cocktail, which is itself sweetened, made this a sweeter dessert than I would've liked. I’d be open to trying them again if it was in my neighbourhood, but it wouldn’t be my first choice for Chinese desserts just based off...

This is the edited review. I gave them 5 stars earlier. I’m their regular customer and went to buy thick sliced bread and was short 30 cents I didn’t know that the bread price was increased I had the exact cash. I told the cashier that I wasn’t aware of the price increase because last time I bought it for that price from the Metrotown location so I was carrying only that amount. She said, are you sure? You’re not lying? You’re going to bring 30 cents tomorrow. I said yes 100% but she still seemed very hesitant. I told her that it’s okay I’ll come get the bread tomorrow. Then she took the bread back and said okay. I felt really bad. I’m definitely not going to go to this location again, probably will go to a different one. That’s terrible customer service....

I love visiting Maxim's for my favourite red bean buns. There are many flavors and items to choose from. All are made fresh in store. Today the red bean buns I purchased were warm! So we're the red bean sesame buns. Remember to bring cash or your debit card as no credit cards are accepted. The prices are reasonable and this supports trying new flavours and combinations.

Tidy bakery, friendly and efficient sales associate. Freshly baked (still warm) products you can choose from the pan (behind the counter cause of food safe concern) while it is cool down a bit. You can choose the fresh packed items from the shelf. Don't miss their yummy birthday/celebration cakes. They also have hot steam bun (bao) available.
