Tourist review! 3.9 stars First time in Vancouver and read about a list of artisan coffee shops in Vancouver that rivaled if not better than Seattle (see my reviews there)! Good article and this place was on the list so I'll breakdown the review into 2 parts: the coffee and the service COFFEE 4.2 stars I was super excited about reading the reviews of this place from the above mentioned article so I tried BOTH the pour over and the espresso. For the pour over I got The Ethiopia Banko Gotti which was excellent, well brewed and as expected wonderful black coffee. For the espresso I got monogram roaster Columbian ordinez. That was interesting because the initial impact was bitterness but quickly dissolved into a interesting taste, meaning, unlike other espressos I've had that's just bitter all the way, this bitterness was only at the initial sip and the finish was not bitter. can't say I was impressed, but I was hesitant to get Colombian because Central American coffee is just aren't for me. SERVICE AND VIBE 2.95 stars So I arrived at precisely 9 AM when they opened. After reading such rave reviews, I was excited to chat with the barista hoping it would be someone else who is passionate about.coffee. This is where it got disappointing quickly. The woman that took my order was so soft-spoken to the point where I had difficulty understanding her and didn't really seem interested in talking about about the coffee when I was asking for suggestions. Also, I was on foot and it was raining so it's possible when I first entered the shop, I looked like many of the homeless people that populate this neighborhood (given my raincoat and hoodie LOLs and hence the greeting understandably "tolerant". I can certainly understand having a business that is so close to an unfortunate population however, it was a disappointing greeting and interaction even after I disclosed that I'm a tourist from California and had red good things about this place.
Overall, I think the coffee here is worth it, however, the vibe and the staff experience would say try to other places on my...
Read moreLong weekend Sunday afternoon, all the tables are taken, and there's continuous stream of people walking in. Two people were on shift. The order desk person was friendly. We ordered our usual favourites – oat milk lattes. I ordered extra hot, that forgot to mentioned that both drinks were supposed to be extra hot. My drink was in a mug, while my partner's drink came in a water glass which is an absolute disgusting way to have a hot expresso latte. First sip was a bit on the strong side, tempting me to add sweetener which I will not. I got used to the taste and finished my drink without honey. The place was quite noisy and we couldn't really hear each other. I dislike the cold metal chairs which makes a jarring noise on the floor. Afterwards in the car, we both noted that we have an unpleasant sour taste in our mouth which is something we don't appreciate. We concluded that the espresso did not meet...
Read moreI rarely leave ratings or comments, but, I have to for Peopaganda. This is the best coffee shop in town, and, if I had to give you a simple reason why that is: the homemade vanilla syrup. Yes, maybe you are not a latte person or a person who ever uses the vanilla syrup, however, if you were, you would immediately taste the difference between their homemade vanilla syrup and other amazing coffee shops who use Monin syrups. Even other places with amazing coffee destroy the taste of their lattes when using industrial bought syrups. A lot of coffee shops in van have great selection and could be on same level so at this point, what makes the difference is in the details. I cannot have any vanilla lattes anywhere else as I immediately taste the syrup and it overpowers the coffee taste. So, Propaganda has my heart 👌 And of course, everything else is the delicious hence why overall they are...
