TL;DR: Band-aid in soup, no comment from management.

Came for dinner on a Saturday evening with a couple of friends. Took 5 - 10 minutes to get the server's attention so we could make our order. Service brought the wrong dishes to our table on two separate occasions. The food took 30 - 40 minutes to come out, which was unusual cause the restaurant did not seem busy as the staff/management were chilling by the bar. I had the chicken pho which was nothing special. The rice noodles were too soft, the broth lacked flavour and they gave us a tiny plate of bean sprouts, basil, and chili peppers for three soup noodle dishes. The dish also lacked any noticeable pieces of chicken, there were only a few slices of chicken skin and meat that were in the broth.

Worst of all there was a band-aid in my dish, which I had been eating already for a couple of minutes. All of us at the table were absolutely disgusted and brought it to the waiter's attention. He didn't return until we got his attention and had the normal spiel of "we're sorry, the meal is on us today," which is pretty standard. What I did not understand was why there was no word coming from either the kitchen or management as they were present during the entire ordeal. They essentially threw their server under the bus by making him apologizing for what is not his fault. To not get an apology from the kitchen or management when they are sitting, drinking 3 metres away from you is disappointing.

Forgettable service, mediocre food, terrible management. You'll have a better meal and experience at any other restaurant...

Literally love EVERYTHING HERE - NO JOKE. Drinks are 10/10. Super strong and super delicious. I've been here 3 times, so here's a summary of everything I've ordered overall:

DD Mau Wings ($14): super flavourful deep fried chicken wings. House fish sauce glaze is sooo delicious.

Viet Carpaccio ($16): thin sliced beef, yummy vinaigrette. I'd recommend adding the sesame rice cracker for +$3 extra - great texture and adds some substance to the beef which is amazing. super crispy too. Flavour explosion overall.

**Grilled Pork Collar ($15): omg if you only want to order one food item, this is it!! So smoky?! I don't even know how it gets that flavour...just amazing. Nice and fatty pieces of meat, great to share too.

DRINKS: Happy hour 3-5:30pm everyday and 9pm-closing on Fri/Sat (get $1 off their street food during HH!)

**Tra Da (2oz) $15 - Jasmine tea infused gin + lemon juice. 10/10 recommend, I've gotten this soo many times. So unique, and the jasmine tea flavour is AMAZING. JUST GET IT.

The Bar Code ($25): Hennessy VSOP, oolong tea, lemon/orange bitters. My friend ordered this, it's quite strong and was apparently pretty decent.

Bar Snax (2.5 oz shots): rum, PEANUT BUTTER, condensed milk. Super unique, just wow. Too easy to drink if you know what I mean. 2/$10 or 4/$18 (you have to order all the same shots though, no...

The two of us ventured to Chinatown to try DD Mau for date night on Saturday to be pleasantly surprised by this hidden little gem. I always like to support family-owned and run businesses and was instantly made to feel at home by the friendly, helpful staff. There is a great atmosphere and vibe which highlights the fresh, delicious food!! We had ginger ciders and veggie spring rolls to start which were very flavourful.Next time we will each order our own plate, but wanted to make sure we had ample room for our main courses. I had the Tom Yum Seafood Soup and my friend had the Beef Lemongrass Bowl. There was minimal conversation during our dinner because we were too busy enjoying our scrumptious dishes!!! Very fresh and wonderful complex flavours. Our server even presented us with a complimentary vodka/lychee shot which was very refreshing. We both finished our meals...it was too good to leave anything in the bowl.We enjoyed some pleasant conversation with the staff and the table next to us,and will definitely be returning with friends next time! Please support this wonderful restaurant and Chinatown. Thank you DD Mau for a 5-star food experience. Love your tile floor. Also, thank you for providing a cushion to sit on so I didn't have to sit on the wooden bench, which would be uncomfortable because of...

Finally got to check out DD Mau and it did not dissapoint! 😎 We went on a Saturday and the music was very R&B - I imagine people pregame here prior to going to fortune because they have lots of fun drinks and good food. 😅 What we ordered: 🍗Chicken & Spring Roll Vermicelli Bowl 🍛 Vegan Curry 🍹Mango Soju Slushy 🥃 Star Anise Old Fashion I came here for their vegan options and the curry was pretty good but could’ve benefited from more sauce. I was surprised by how fresh the baguette was and woukd recommend that over rice. Although I didn’t try the chicken vermicelli bowl, my partner said it was really good and no complaints. The food was well priced for what you got and it’s vegan friendly as previously mentioned! 🌱 However, the drinks are a big selling point. The mango soju slushy was dangerously good, while the old fashion was very smooth. I’m a whisky lover, so I preferred the old fashion. Overall, prices and vibe here was great. It wasn’t a calm vibe, but it felt fun and casual. I can see why it was busy throughout the time we were there and I’d definitely come back!
