Been going to the same place for 10 years in Coquitlam. However we have been trying this one in downtown but yesterday we called to make reservation said we couldn’t but we advise the girl we were 17 people when we got there she told us that we were going to be charged 19% on tip due to many people. So we told her okay but we don’t need to sit together we can all just divide into the families that we were 4 families she said still you guys gotta pay the 19% because you all know each other. Her attitude since the beginning was awful I told her why are you being rude as she made a face to one of the families already seating down and whispered a word that I didn’t undurstand. She said I’m not being rude I said you are and your very unprofessional by doing that I said may I talk to a manager she said I’m the supervisor and I was like well your are very rude she said “I’m not and I’m going to stop talking to you bye” gave me the hand and walked away. I ordered from Sushi California last week hoping for some fresh sushi on my trip to Vancouver. Unfortunately I did not have the best takeout experience. After putting in the order through UberEats, the order was "ready" within 10 minutes, so we went to the restaurant to pick it up. When we got there, we waited for more than 40 minutes along with several other people who also had takeout orders. It became very obvious that priority was given to serving seated customers, as we were basically ignored and given no updates unless we walked up and asked. Many food delivery drivers waited for a long time before having to give up and leave. When we finally got our order, we were barely greeted, and was given no compensation.

We have heard good things about the sushi, but was left unsatisfied as the food was quite average. We ordered a 2-person combo with sashimi, nigiri and soup udon, adding a side order of assorted tempura. The raw fish was big in size, but did not taste fresh. The udon was okay but had no toppings other than one slice of naruto fish. The tempura was crisp but heavy, leaving our mouths greasy with oil.
