Compared to Sushi Gallery, the old sushi shop that was at this location for over 6 years, I have to say it is pretty bad. Food is low quality and they charge one of the highest I have had for sushi around this neighborhood. I ordered a roll, salmon and tuna nigiri and it was around $18 while before it would have been around $12-14. The raise in price would have been justified if the quantity and quality was good, but the nigiri is awfully prepared (imagine a badly sliced piece of fish put on top of a clump of rice without pressing or shaping) and tasted like canned tuna. The salmon was average, not bad but certainly not good. The roll was what you would get at a grocery store or a pre-packaged sushi to-go box. The next big issue is the price. At every other japanese restaurant I have been, I have never seen every type of nigiri priced so high and at the same price (tamago/inari is the same as tuna/salmon???). Big red flag as they clearly don't know the cuisine they are serving or how to price it. Another big red flag is them including a fridge magnet when you make a to-go restaurant (I have never seen this kind of marketing technique used in ages, they are clearly not in this business). I will definitely never come here again. Overall a pretentious Japanese restaurant that has a expensive looking interior but no sense of quality or reasonable pricing for their food. Save your money and don't bother coming here, there are lots of other great sushi restaurants to go to. If you enjoyed the old sushi place that was here, you will be greatly disappointed if you come here. I would rather have bought 3 frozen pizzas than have come here...
Read moreSushi Inn took the space vacated by a previous Japanese food restaurant, popular among locals, stidents at UBC, etc. After a relatively minor renovation, the place is now brighter and a with better distribution of tables. The feel is minimalistic, but still comfortable. The menu is basically a repeat of what you can expect of these type of establishments, if anything, the special rolls the only real point of difference. Otherwise, the dishes are well presented, portions are decent, and quality is pretty good. Their menu now includes a few new options (takoyaki, tonkatsu, curry dishes, etc.). Service is very friendly and efficient. Prices comparable to other sushi restaurants in the area....
Read moreI usually love this place and recommend it to all my friends. I ordered delivery tonight (which I paid for) and chose not to pre-pay the tip, thinking it would be better to pay my delivery person at the door. When they got to my apartment, the delivery man said "I see you already paid, maybe next time you should tip us for this service". I was absolutely astounded. A tip is for good service, that I wanted to give in person. After hearing that I certainly did not feel like I should be tipping anyone after being scolded at. If you think you deserve a tip, you ought to be polite and respectful, and not assume you're...
