This is one of those rare gems that makes Vancouver feel a little more alive. Their music nights are always a treat — country, bluegrass, and everything in between — the kind of tunes that get you moving whether you planned to or not. I love that it’s a place where you can actually dance, not just sit and listen. The drinks are solid, the beer list hits the spot, and the bar food is exactly what you want after a few rounds. I have a soft spot for their hot dog — delicious and exactly right. I love hot dogs. It’s the kind of spot that reminds you what a neighborhood bar should be: unpretentious, lively, and welcoming. I just wish there were more places like this around town.

We keep coming back for the Bluegrass nights on Tuesday and they never disappoint! Their beer list has a lot of local bangers, and the snacks/dinner menu has generous portions as well so we never leave hungry. The decor is eclectic, the staff are hospitable & direct (this is still Hastings!) and the seating is cozy. They have a TV playing retro movies or shows too!

Nice vibes, cosy environment. Beer list was a little limited but the cocktails were delicious and the food generously portioned and tasty. The Heatley is a live music bar, which I mightily applaud! Great to have some more options in the neighbourhood and somewhere for local artists to perform. Cover for the show I saw was $15 and included on my tab. 👍

I am extremely dissatisfied with my experience at The Heatley. The venue had publicly advertised a Bluegrass Brunch featuring Murfitt & Main, scheduled for Sunday, September 7, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 5:30 pm. I reserved two tickets for this event and made arrangements to attend despite a busy morning. We arrived promptly at 1:45 pm, only to find the establishment completely empty.

After confirming my reservation details and verifying the time and location, I attempted to contact the event organizer. My emails went unanswered. We waited for over half an hour, hoping it was simply a delay, but eventually left—disappointed and frustrated.

Later that day, at 5:33 pm, I called The Heatley and spoke with the person responsible for organizing the event. Her response was shockingly casual and unapologetic. She informed me that the event had been cancelled because I was the only person who made a reservation. When I asked why I hadn’t been notified—especially since I was the sole ticket holder—she dismissively replied that the tickets were free and merely reservations.

While I understand the tickets were complimentary, basic courtesy and customer service would dictate notifying attendees of a cancellation. Her dismissive attitude and lack of accountability were unacceptable. No apology was offered, and the entire interaction left me feeling disrespected and deeply disappointed. We would not have made the trip to Vancouver if we had been notified of the cancellation.

This experience was a complete letdown, and I will not be recommending this...

Wow mickey (and yes, I really do mean that with a very small "m") you guys are real"rock stars".😐

Nice addition to an otherwise dreary, economically depressed neighborhood....or that's what I used to think.

Turns out mikey, my first take on you (selfish, arrogant, has been) was BANG ON! But nice acting contrite for a second.😐

Where those messages pleading for some peace bothersome? Those words you could either read, or NOT and DISMISS! Nothing like being constantly tormented, the better part of A YEAR !!! YOU PRINCESS.

I don't know what you expected when you moved into a place people have been LIVING since 1931.... But, hey why shouldn't you take advantage of people who are less fortunate, and have no real voice with this IMPOTENT useless city administration! CLEARLY no one at city hall gives a DAMN about the RESIDENTS HERE! Just ANOTHER situation where the people who DO ACTUALLY LIVE in this place have to suck it up. You must feel AWESOME!

Its cool. You do you, heaven knows, it's the only thing you know. Congrats, you must feel pretty smug. You have made living here even MORE UNPLEASANT.

Weird that the terms of your licence seem to be some what "fluid", but I also know your lease is UP soon.😦 How sad.

You don't add anything to this neighborhood but more drunks screaming on the street, and the music; largely pedestrian. The food doesn't even merit mention, other than to say over priced. The attitude of staff, just like you; entitled.

I wonder what you might be like with the roles reversed. No wait. I...

Wing special on Wednesdays is reasonable. Otherwise, pretty standard fare. Live music some evenings. One of the nicer looking establishments in the area. Opens late afternoon for dinner and closes around midnight - often open later on weekends. Service was satisfactory. Staff appear to be friendly and humorous when speaking with regulars or more outgoing patrons. Close to the Astoria and a local brewery. Walking distance from the Patricia hotel Free parking available in the area including overnight parking if you really look for it. Otherwise there is pay parking in front on the Heatley side (you can pay by credit card payment using the paybyphone app.) Remember to lock your doors and take any valuables with you though if you plan to leave your vehicle...
