Took the family out to this establishment for lunch today. Tony's Fish & Oyster Cafe proved to be a delightful culinary escapade for seafood enthusiasts like myself. The restaurant's inviting ambiance and friendly staff immediately set the stage for a memorable dining experience. With a diverse menu boasting a variety of seafood delicacies, our taste buds were in for a treat.
To start, we ordered the Caesar Salad, and it was a refreshing and well-balanced dish. The crisp romaine lettuce was generously coated in a tangy dressing, complemented by a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese and crunchy croutons. It served as an excellent precursor to the seafood feast that awaited us. I will note a pretty standard caesar salad.
Next up was the Seafood Sampler, a delightful platter brimming with ocean treasures. The array of Seafood Clams, Mussels, Prawns and Scallops with breaded Oysters and deep fried Cod was impeccably fresh and expertly prepared. The sampler was a great way to explore various flavours of the sea in one dish.
The Clam Chowder was a standout among the starters. Creamy, rich, and generously loaded with tender clams, it warmed our souls and left us craving more. The balance of flavours was spot on, and the hearty portion made it perfect for sharing.
Moving on to the Prawn Appetizer, we were delighted by the succulent prawns cooked to perfection. The dish was accented with a zesty marinade that enhanced the natural sweetness of the prawns. It was an appetizer we couldn't resist finishing entirely, even though we knew we had a main course to savour.
The highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the Cioppino, a seafood stew packed with an array of fish, mussels, and squid. The broth was a harmonious symphony of tomatoes, garlic, and herbs that danced on our palates with every spoonful. The seafood was tender, indicating the use of fresh catch, and the dish was served piping hot, adding to its comforting appeal. Although it may seem simple, this dish showcased Tony's expertise in crafting seafood classics.
Overall, Tony's Fish & Oyster Cafe earns a solid 4-star rating. The dining experience was enhanced not only by the delectable seafood offerings but also by the warm and attentive service provided by the sever. While some dishes stood out more than others, the restaurant's commitment to quality and flavoursome seafood left a lasting impression on our taste buds. Tony's Fish & Oyster Cafe is a worthy destination to satisfy...
Read moreI had the most horrible experience here. The waitress was either a racist or really messed up as she behaved real rude. Her name is Tannis or something of that sort. Not only was she rude but myself and my husband were still eating when she slammed the bill on our table even when we had not requested for it yet. I am really disappointed and was not expecting this in Granville Island, which is also a popular tourist spot. I will never ever go there again and neither will I suggest anyone else to go there. A zero rating for the service and thumbsbdown!!
P.S. No. There is no miunderstanding. Myself and my husband entered and we saw couple of tables empty, so we decided to sit there as it normally happens in restaurants. This particular waitress stopped us rudely and pointed towards the board where people are supposed to write their own name and wait, which is really not a customers job! This shows the unprofessional behaviour and understaffing of the restaurant. This place seems more like a fast food joint rather than a restaurant, if one cosiders the services. Then we were finally seated as the other waitress welcomed us in and 'she' did not. She came to take the order and was trying to push us to hurry up and order , which does not happen even in the smallest of restaurants. Moreover, it was the last straw of patience for us for her disrespectful behaviour when we were at the end of our meal and she came to the table and put a knife into the plate when my partner was still eating in it!!! This is highly unethical and a horrendous behaviour. It was embarassing and showed that she wanted to get rid of us. Over the course of our meal, we observed that she was talking to other customers properly. Kindly look at your cctv cameras if you have and clear the misunderstanding on your part. Our intent is not to miguide people but to make you aware of having good customer service and humility when one is doing good in...
Read moreGreat Fish and Chips - Granville Island
It took me a couple of trips and a few questions To finally find good fish and chips at Granville Island in Vancouver.
I went to SoGood Fish and Chips whose outdoor trailer in an parking lot just a short walk along the seawalk from Granville Island; the line at that time was long (it was noon) but fast, and the food was excellent. A bit pricey, but not excessive. Being an outdoor venue, I doult if this spot is open beyond the summer season.
Then after a few bad leads, found Tony's Oyster Cafe just after the entrance to Granville Island; there is a larger fancy seafood restaurant nearby that confused me the first time. It had equally good fare as SoGood too, and a slightly different Menu, price about the same. The place is small and very popular, so be prepared to wait; especially during lunch hours. I had to wait about 20 minutes outside on the bench for a table.
It took a bit to find these places, but worth it, good fish and chips are hard to find.
Have attached clips from Google Earth, unfortunately a close picture of SoGood was not available, and because the location of Tony's is underneath the Granville bridge, an street map is hard to generate; but by expanding and observing the photo attached and follow the arrows, you should be able...
