Visited the Canada place location on Canada Day. We got the chocolate and strawberry mint flavors. I usually don’t like leaving negative reviews. It’s hard to run a business in the post-pandemic environment. But I feel I need to say something for your good because I am a gelato fan. The taste was quite disappointing. Chocolate too sweet but you could also taste the bitterness while strawberry too sour. The most disappointing part was the texture… it didn’t taste like gelato. The texture was very poor. I am pregnant so my taste buds get sensitive; my boyfriend thought the same although he is not pregnant lol. We both felt SAD after eating the “gelato”. The worst thing for a gelato place is that people feel sad after eating your gelato. I thought I might just buy one ice cream from one of those ice cream trucks around. So, no offense, but really, given the best season and the prime location, you guys need to work on the quality of your product- you can even raise your price say $10, $12 for two scoops. Trust me people will pay for it but man you need to give people REAL gelato that offers happiness and satisfaction! Remember, people feel happy while they are waiting in the line to buy the gelato because it’s associated with childhood memories or the occasion or whatever. You don’t want them to feel sad and disappointed after tasting your gelato. Oh and one more thing, some of your employees didn’t seem very happy I’m not sure if they were underpaid or overworked. But people are expecting to see happy smiling face behind an ice cream or gelato bar. So please work on your food quality and treat your employees...
Read moreWent for their Hot Chocolate Festival offerings! Blooming Bliss ($10.50) was rich with white chocolate, and flavourful with the addition of cardamom and rose water. The dried rose petals were edible, but we weren't a fan of the texture! It came with a lemon macaron. The ChocoBubbles Thai Dream ($9.95) was interesting. Definitely heavy on the dark chocolate, I wish the Thai black tea shone through more! If I gave a percentage in terms of taste, dark chocolate was 90% and the Thai black tea was 10%. Lacking the tea flavour. The tapioca pearls are not the kind you would find at bubble tea shops. While they were chewy and sweet, they were quite small and stuck together easily. I did like the play on textures, but I wish the drink as a whole was more reminiscent of the bubble tea experience! The coconut sorbetto it came with was fantastic. Perfect flavour to counteract the heavy, rich chocolate, and it had coconut flakes mixed in as well.
The location is interesting, as it's right next to Mahony's and looks like they carved a vacant spot out of that unit for Uno Gelato (a set of doors separates their interior). Seating for 2 small groups inside. The lady who helped us was very friendly! They have quite a few vegan/gluten free options, so I'd love to return when the...
Read moreI had good experiences at the other locations, even got myself gift card to try. But had issues with this location service-wise so reconsidering buying from uno gelato period. Visited to use my gift card but the two employees did not know how to use for payment, asked me to pay with other methods. I had no other way to pay and just left. What am I going to do now with my fully loaded gift card? The other locations are out of my way and not sure if the gelato is worth traveling out for, to compensate for employees lack of knowledge. Ordered for pick up by doordash and got a confirmation that it was ready, but when i got there it wasn't and the person who scooped it in front of me did not seem to fully scoop, and also did not give any bags to carry with even though the app charged for bags. I had to ask and he seemed not very happy with the request but ended up giving me the paper packaging. I liked the gelato enough, but the service is disappointing and there are comparable gelateria nearby with better overall experiences. Two stars because gelato itself is not bad but at that price point, you expect...
