Waves Coffee House - Hastings — Restaurant in Vancouver

The coffee is great, the food it great, the employees are great, the manager keeps the place clean and safe, BUT THE MANAGER is VERY RUDE! And no he is not young, he’s an older man around his late 40’s and early 50’s. Lol Has no empathy and deserves no business. He has no respect. He told me none of my stuff matters to them.

I placed a sign that said a “(name of group) were upstairs)” on the back of my math notes (about 7 pages thick), on a railing of the upstairs. I wanted to make sure people knew where to meet. When I went back for the sign (math notes), it wasn’t there. I asked, and the manager replied, “you cannot put signs up on our property.” He said. “You have to ask.” I told him “sorry, I understand, but you could be a bit nicer” Then I went up to him before I left. I told him (super kindly and overly nice) that I was sorry and I wouldn’t do it again, and “I love your coffee shop! You’re cafe is so clean and has great service and then make great coffee. But I would like if you were a bit nicer.” He replied “I’m justing being straight”. Then I said “it was just a piece of paper to make sure people knew where we were” Then he said “you are disrespecting my cafe when you put that paper there” I said “you could have given the paper to me and told me not to put it there and I would have understood and apologized” Then he said “none of your stuff means anything to us!” Then I asked him if he knew the notes were mine, but he tried to shut me up “that’s it, end of conversation” But I said it again and told him “this was very disrespectful and I used to love this cafe!” And then told him that he lost all my service! So I hope they get a new manager or he apologizes. I would forgive him...

We have been here many times. However, this was the first time that the drinks were horrible and the service was average. The staff on June 26th at 4:30pm seemed overworked and new. Ice cream and yogurt were out, and they made our frappes with milk. When the drinks were made, we find out they made them for the wrong size. We then had to wait another 10 mins. When we finally got our drinks, the drinks tasted flavorless with excessive (unblended) ice.

Update (Updating from 1 star to 4 stars): My other experiences at this location have been great. Oddly, the place seem to run out of whip cream/ice cream/yogurt on certain days of the week. I'd definitely suggest to always ask before you...

I came in this cafe first time to wait for my friend. My friend had extremely a significant errand for her. Although we came in here coincidentally, The hospitality of the staff, the vibes and even the customer were so good. Especially, one of the employees who is named Sora was quite caring and compassionate for us!! Thank you for cheering my friend up gently. Additionally, she suggested to have the best type of chocolate for my hot chocolate!!! Totally I love a cup of hot chocolate,which is made with a latte art she draw. She draw such an adorable picture on the top!!!!! I love it! Thanks a lot, what a memorable time !! I became a fan of this cafe...
