This is my favourite local restaurant and I often dine in or order take-out. (I like other restaurants in the area but Avenue hits me differently). My personal favourite is Avenue faccocia, mezzo & olives, Bufalina Pizza, and my go-to penne pasta in rose sauce. My partner loves their steaks and meat pasta (I'm not a meat eater). They have an exceptional selection of Italian wines. My favourite is the Farina. Avenue is truly a landmark and testament to Kleinburg's charm. It provides an authentic and unpretentious taste of Italian cuisine and service by seasoned professionals. From the food, to the people, to the gorgeous aesthetic and classical vibe, it's the perfect restaurant for a romantic dinner date, celebration or just to dine in style with friends and family. The service is impeccable and the staff are delightful. Paulina, Billy, Garry, Jimmy, Jonny, Michalago, etc are always attentive, accommodating and considerate as they strive to provide a superb dining experience. The level of passion they have is hard to match, and it's evident that they work well together as a team. I always feel happy when I dine in. They are genuinely kind and delightful even when I see them on my walks/bike rides in the village. Considering the quality and location, the prices are reasonable (with the exception of some specialty cocktails and wines :). It's a place that never disappoints. I can't recommend it enough. I'm updating this review after 2 years of my first post because I felt my original one did not do it justice.

Started off with an $18 aperol spritz, that tasted like it should! Followed by the Barese sausage with rapini as an appetizer. The sausage was really flavorful. Not salty, good taste. The rapini were sautĆ©ed and not over cooked. As my main I had the tagliolini with shaved tartufo. The taste was VERY good, and i enjoyed it very much! It had a simple butter sauce with shaved truffles that were outstanding!! At $42, I found it a bit pricey, but I'm not sure of the going rate of truffle these days šŸ˜‚. Finished off my dinner with 2 flavours of Gelato, pistachio and lemon. They both tasted really good, and would definitely have them again. A strawberry flavour would have been nice, but they didn't have it. Price is a bit on the higher side, atmosphere is nice, modern and clean, with wait staff being friendly, fast and responsive. Over all a very good restaurant.

We’ve been intending on visiting for a while now, and finally got around to it. The food is amazing, everything ordered didn’t disappoint. They have plenty of options as they have their regular menu and a daily menu, so there’s definitely something for everyone. I ordered the ravioli with eggplant (I don’t recall the exact name) off the daily menu and one of the best I’ve had. Their pistachio cheesecake is something you don’t come across everyday and it was a must despite being full and it was delicious šŸ‘Œ Lastly, the service was impeccable; Michelangelo was friendly, genuine, personable and his recommendations were always on point! Thank you!

I had an absolutely awful experience here last night, and I’m still shaken by how I was treated. I’ve never felt so disrespected and humiliated at a restaurant before. I would never come back and strongly warn others to avoid this place

Right after we were seated, I found a spider in my napkin. No one apologized or showed any concern at all. Our server only came by to take our order and barely checked on us the entire night. We ended up being helped by random staff throughout the night which was confusing and unorganized.

When I was paying, I accidentally clicked ā€œskipā€ on the tip screen because I was distracted sorting through my cards. I immediately realized what I did and turned to my sisters, who I was dining with, and asked if they could add my tip to theirs, which they happily did. But instead, the server loudly announced — not once, not twice, but three separate times — that I hadn’t left a tip. He kept repeating it like he was trying to embarrass me, and he said it loudly enough for the entire (mostly empty) restaurant to hear. I was already looking through my bag trying to find change, but he wouldn’t stop. I had already told my sisters to tip for me, but that clearly didn’t matter to him.

After we had all paid, he came extremely close to me, leaned in and said, ā€œIf you can’t afford to tip, you shouldn’t come here.ā€ I was completely shocked. I just sat there frozen, unable to say a word. I couldn’t believe a server would speak to a customer like that especially over something I tried to correct right away.

He walked away, and then he came back again to say it’s ā€œactually more expensive for him to serve us.ā€ At that point, I felt completely disrespected, singled out, and honestly violated. I’m a 21 year old girl, and the way he spoke to me felt like an attempt to humiliate me in front of everyone.

I may not have been able to speak up in that moment, but I am now. No one deserves to be treated like that, not for a simple mistake, not ever. This kind of behaviour from a server is completely unacceptable. There’s no excuse for how I was made to feel.

Avoid this place...

Extremely disappointed place, service and food - would not recommend!

Visited this restaurant with friends today at 12:30 PM. Despite the dining room being half empty, the service was painfully slow. We spent almost three hours there, and the entire time it felt like we were a burden to the staff. Our server acted like he was doing us a favor every time he came over, never smiled once, and was nearly impossible to flag down. At one point, he even leaned over and bumped into guests at the table with his stomach to reach items, all without a single apology or even a hint of a smile. It was shockingly unprofessional and uncomfortable.

Basic service expectations were completely ignored. No one offered us bread, olive oil, vinegar, or even lemon for the water - not even as a paid option. In an Italian restaurant, this is the bare minimum. The lack of attention to these details just added to the overall feeling of neglect.

The food was just as disappointing.

Each dish took about an hour to arrive - even the simple ones.

The grilled calamari was overcooked and bitter.

I ordered a whole grilled sea bass, but was served a pile of skinless, boneless fish fillets swimming in oil on a large plate. It looked messy and tasted just as bad - greasy and flavorless.

The spaghetti with crab was a tiny portion for $68, with only a little crab that was still in the shell. My friend had to dig it out with a fork herself.

The fried calamari and shrimp tasted boiled rather than fried - the batter was soggy and soft, with zero crispness.

To make matters worse, several girls felt sick on the way home, which really raises concerns about food safety and quality.

I dine out frequently and never write bad reviews, but when an expensive restaurant in Kleinburg delivers such subpar service and food, it deserves to be called out.

Strongly do not recommend. Total waste of...

I am rating this based on the order we had. Overly priced! Halibut $56 and red snapper $45 we ordered were horrible. Barley with seabass-not quite sure why they paired this together! Barley tasted like porridge without seasoning. So, I only ate the Halibut, and it was not tasteful either. The side order Rappini was a disappointment as it was tough to cut let alone to chew. We hated that we wasted our food as we left half the portion!!! The red snapper was a joke, the plate presentation was questionable, and unappetizing. The server knew we were not happy with the food, but he was almost embarrassed, so he tried to avoid us and paid less attention. Did he offer other options as he knew we had a discontentment in our face? No, he didn't bother so I give customer service as 3/5. We really enjoyed the bruschetta and gelato to wash out the awful taste of the entree dishes!!! Ambiance was alright but the decor was nice. I would not recommend this restaurant to my family and friends. We were extremely disappointed. Food 1/5 (they need to reconsider what they serve) not worth the money we paid. Service 3/5 Cleanliness 3/5 washroom was not clean enough. They need to check their plumbing- has a sewer smell from the floor. My friend and I go to different restaurants to try different cuisines and they were exceptionally top notched compared to The Avenue restaurant; it was the worst experience! What a shame. I suggest you visit Belsito Trattoria in the same neighbourhood and they are way better (excellent service and food is authentic and...
