Not an enjoyable experience. Right from the start they seemed annoyed at us for not having a reservation (the restaurant was half empty at the time). This is the type of restaurant that offers flat or sparkling water, which both have a ridiculous price. Luckily we knew to order tap water. They never checked up on us during the meal or to refill our waters. They seemed to have just ignored us because they didn't think we were worthy customers or perhaps because my friend had her child with her (he was very well behaved). We could never even get our servers attention, so we had to ask other ones around when we needed to ask for something. We noticed how much attention our server gave to the table next to us and he went through a whole list of specials of the day with them. He did not tell us anything about specials when he took our order which was very disappointing. The food was overpriced and subpar. The spinach dip was very messy to eat and did not come with much bread, the beet salad was way too acidic and made me cough a lot, made worse because my glass of water was empty. The mushroom risotto was not good, it was a bland, watery mess. I saw photos posted from other clients in reviews of their risotto and ours didn't not look like theirs. We would have told them about the food, but they never asked how we were doing, and even though we were still hungry, we didn't bother ordering another dish there. The dinnerware they served the food on made for a painful experience, imagine eating risotto with a metal fork on a matte black plate. It felt like eating off a chalkboard. Not an enjoyable meal, especially since we were celebrating a special occasion. This is not a place we...
Read moreI was recommended Funghetto when asking around for a restaurant to host my son’s Baptism. We had been in contact with 5 restaurants but decided to visit Funghetto first. My fiancé and I met with Gerardo and Chef Angelo discussing menu options and had a tasting, and we placed our deposit immediately. We had the Nerone Octopus salad (which after the tasting I dreamt of for 2 months until our event), burrata caprese, DOP cheese and prosciutto board, spicy frittura, 14 oz Rib eye, paccheri in roasted cherry tomato sauce, bruschetta chicken and Orata aqua pazza.
Oh My God, what an experience.
Firstly, the restaurant is gorgeous. From the Love installations to the wine walls and cozy ambiance. The staff is impeccable and everyone speaks Italian, which is so welcoming; they’re like a well-oiled machine.
Everything we asked for, including the most beautiful wine, was in abundance. They communicated with us from The initial point of contact, through the planning process and until the event date, never saying no or needing to change plans, even when my guest list changed last minute.
My guests are still calling two weeks later saying how amazing the event was, and how great the food was. I need to give due credit to Gerardo and Chef Angelo and their teams for running such a great business and for being so accommodating, available at any hour (even late nights while event planning and feeding a 6 month old), and welcoming.
We will definitely recommend Funghetto to all friends and family, and will be back very...
Read moreCame here on a Saturday night for a friend’s birthday dinner.
I’ll just start by saying there are SO many other restaurants in the area that I would recommend over this one.
First off, it is very overpriced. I understand food costs have risen, but there is no reason a glass of sangria should cost over $20, and not to mention the water… $50 for a few bottles!?! Insane. Oh and not to mention, half of the items we tried ordering weren’t available. No lamb chops, no squid ink pasta… why have it on the menu then?
Secondly, the owner (Gerardo) is extremely rude. We were a group of 12 and were not told they were unable to split bills. When we mentioned that nobody told us this prior, his response was ‘why should we tell you?’. Every restaurant I have been to that does not do split bills either mentions it upon making a reservation OR states it on their menu. There was no need for his rudeness and disgusting attitude and a simple ‘I’m sorry we didn’t mention it before’ would have been appreciated, ESPECIALLY since he was the owner. Our waiter was much more polite, despite the fact we had to manually split our own bill.
Thirdly, it is such a small place and was way too overcrowded.
If you’re looking for an Italian restaurant in the area, I suggest going elsewhere. If it wasn’t for the rudeness encountered by the owner, this review might have been a little different.
And to the person responding to these reviews, please do not apologize, because it’s far too late for that, and no, we will absolutely...
