First and foremost- at some point, you MUST dine at this restaurant!
Every single thing was perfect. We were greeted warmly at the door, seated in their cozy restaurant and then it all began. We started with their zucchini purée soup which was possibly the best soup I've had till date- so delicious that we tried to take a container home as take out but they had run out! My mom had their butternut squash ravioli and the filling was perfectly (and I literally mean, perfect) fluffy. Many times, ravioli pieces will be flimsy or the stuffing will have a thick and heavy texture but not this time. It was the right portion and the buttered sauce it was in was light and savoury. My sister and I shared their white fish and pappardelle fungi pasta- oh my goodness. It was the full fish and I think was marinated for a while because the flavours were melting in our mouths. The pasta was savoury, al dente and the oil that was on the mushrooms was to die for!!!!
Our tiramisu and lemon cake desserts were NOT overly sweet. In fact, they were the best ending to the meal (especially the in house tiramisu). Please please make sure to try this when you are here, you will not be disappointed!
Lastly, the people. We were sitting next to this table of 6 very friendly Italians that were so warm and fun that we had conversations with them throughout our meals, took pictures, exchanged numbers, etc. The chef personally went to each table to check on how guests were enjoying their meals and shared a loving laugh.
All-in-all, probably one of my best experiences at an Italian restaurant and I'm 100% positive...
Read moreTigo wasn't a bad place to have dinner but I do believe that they lack attention to detail. Customers deserve, when going to what we perceived to be a nicer restaurant a better than average experience. The food tasted good and was presented nicely but the portions weren't overly impressive. The actual problem, was with our server. He seemed nice enough but his old school nature was a little annoying. When I asked about suggestions from the menu it seemed as if it was a chore. He basically said that you like what you like without a genuine interest. I also specifically wrote out a special request on my online reservation saying that it was my wife's birthday and asked if anything could be done to help recognize the special occasion. Especially since it was actually that day. I also again mentioned it verbally to our server at the beginning of the meal hoping that maybe during dessert something would be said or done. But as you guessed it, nothing! Only when he brought the bill did he finally mention that he forgot to recognize it. Too late! I gave them two opportunities to help me celebrate my wife's birthday and nothing! You go to any other chain restaurant and they'll bend over backwards to recognize your celebration. Here where you spend more, expecting to get more, it's the opposite. It's a shame because the place had potential. This older server shouldn't be in the service business. Unfortunately for them I won't be back. You should treat every customer as if you want them to come back. Especially for your family's...

I recently dined at Tigo Trattoria in Woodbridge and had a mixed experience. The restaurant has an old-world charm that takes you back to the 1900s, with two old men working as waiters. While this was a unique and interesting aspect, my dining experience had a few hiccups.
Upon being seated, I noticed that the table was unstable and wiggling left and right. The waiter tried to fix it while I was looking at the menu. I ordered the beef carpaccio, which was surprisingly tasty and enjoyable. I liked it so much that I later ordered 4 beef carpaccios to go, and they were put in one container for me.
However, the issue arose when I was paying the bill. The total came out to be around $130, and I paid with my card. The waiter took the card machine and left but later returned to ask me why I didn't tip him. While I don't mind tipping for good service when dining in, in my case, I mainly ordered to take away with me. The fact that the waiter asked me about tipping and tried to impose it on me was a bit bothersome and left me feeling uncomfortable.
Overall, I would give Tigo Trattoria a three-star rating out of five, mainly because of the beef carpaccio. While the restaurant has an interesting ambiance, the wobbly table and the waiter's behavior left a sour taste...
