My partner and I tried three other board game cafes and this is the only one we visited a second time. The food is decently priced and they have dairy alternative and vegan options. The best part of visiting this place is that the staff who worked here were all very well versed in the games they sold and had to play and they also sat down with you to make sure you fully understood what you were playing and made sure you were sure about what you were purchasing nefore you bought it. My family and I enjoy very competitive and easy board games and the staff did not judge us whenwe requested "very easy but fun games" they simply walked us through in a respectable pace of how to play and promptly answered all of our questions. If we ever visit the island again this will definitely be the place we go for a game and quick bite to eat! Im definitely recomending this place to all of our family and friends and wish there was one by our home town because we would travel 2 hours to play here for sure unfortunately this place is an 8 hour drive for us so maybe a once a year trip for us. Id made the 2 hour drive weekly though for sure if I had the option. 5/5 stars feom me and my family. Also queer friendly and we did not feeluncomfortable in the slightest which is always a plus as...
Read moreDue to the pandemic they are only open for takeout and board game purchases right now (open fully in September, fingers crossed!), but I stopped by today to try their food and had a great chat with the owners who were super great people. They had a fantastic selection of board games for sale and the prices were as good or better than I've seen elsewhere, and they were very friendly and knowledgeable about their games as well. The panini I ordered was delicious and well priced and I will happily try all their other food eventually because it all looked incredible. I will definitely be going back whenever I need to buy board games and I'm excited to go there with friends when they open for in-house service!
Side note: they don't sell dice. This doesn't take away any of my joy for the place, but since it seems like the kind of place that might sell dice I figured I...
Read moreWe arrived at opening and got to see the space before it got packed.
The selection of games is good but not huge; you can call beforehand to check if they have the game(s) you want to play.
The interior is clean and simply decorated. It's smaller than the boardgame cafe on Yates, but in a way that makes this venue feel a bit more cozy (which I enjoyed).
The pricing is also better IMO, at $5 to stay and play, and with snacks, drinks, and food ranging from arouns $3-10. I had a coffee and fries (with garlic mayo), and enjoyed both.
I also really enjoyed that they give each table and IPad on which to order. My biggest issue with the other boardgame cafe (other than their food quality) is that you have to order at the counter (and often wait behind people checking in or paying their tabs), which feels inefficient. This spot has a better system!
