AMAZING. I cannot speak highly enough of this spot! Easily the best service we’ve received in BC. Super comfortable but spacious bar in the upper floor of an inconspicuous building. Just hidden enough to add an air of intrigue. When we arrived we were greeted warmly by the host who struck up a friendly conversation with us for a minute (if that), until one of the bartenders came to guide us upstairs. The handoff between host and bartender was seamless and left us feeling well taken care of. We were sat at a beautiful two top slightly elevated above the rest of the bar, allowing us to see everything. They quickly brought water, and provided a QR code for the drink menu. The cocktail menu was very extensive and everything had a tropical spin. Our server was extremely knowledgeable and gladly answered any questions we had. Whenever we decided on a beverage, our server was sure to affirm our choices and walk through what they loved about the drinks we had just ordered. Truly excellent hospitality. I highly suggest trying the different tropical spins on an old fashion that they offer. Amazing. Extremely attentive and speedy service along with friendly and knowledgeable staff made this spot a new favorite for my wife and I.

If you’re looking for a drink that makes an entrance and a small, controlled inferno—Citrus & Cane is your new holy ground. I ordered this tiki masterpiece expecting a fruity cocktail and left with a full-blown spiritual awakening. It arrived at my table on fire—not metaphorically, but actual open flame, perched on a lime like it had just descended from the heavens on a chariot of rum. I haven’t felt that level of excitement since I discovered my oven has an air fryer setting. The drink itself? Pure tropical wizardry. It’s like a Hawaiian luau and a Caribbean beach party had a love child and raised it in a speakeasy. I tasted passionfruit, pineapple, and possibly the tears of a very talented bartender. It was balanced, boozy, and dangerously sippable. The vibe of the bar? Think “mid-century modern meets island jungle with excellent lighting.” The bartender had the energy of a man who has stared into the void of many blender tornadoes and emerged victorious, all while wearing a floral shirt. If you’re in town and not stopping by Citrus & Cane, you’re doing your taste buds and your Instagram a tragic disservice. Bonus: My eyebrows are still intact after the flame show. 10/10 would drink

My husband and I were visiting Victoria for Ska and Reggae fest and ended up at Citrus and Cane 3 out of 5 nights we stayed. Tim and Jessa are the sweetest, humblest, most welcoming hosts, and their staff Emma and Alex made us feel like old friends. Their selection of non-alcoholic drinks made with Lyre Co. “Spirits” are absolutely phenomenal. Not just your typical “here’s a drink with no booze”, but a well thought-out and curated menu of mocktails with carefully planned and tested flavour profiles. Their alcohol based drinks range from fun and silly party drinks to sophisticated takes on traditional favourites. I also can’t say enough about the amazing job they’ve done on preserving, refurbishing and updating this 1970s lounge, and their dedication to honouring a local institution. I’d give Citrus and Cane 10/5 stars if I could. Can’t wait for an excuse to come back.

My husband and I came with our daughters for one daughter's 19th birthday and we were told that they had a table for us, it would only be a few minutes and could we wait outside (people were beginning to line up behind us and the reception area is quite small and due to pandemic distancing requirements, we completely understood the request.) From directly outside the glass, we watched one group after us taken up to be seated, then another and then a third. It was clear that at least two of the other groups did not have reservations. After standing in the cold (below zero) for 15 minutes, my husband went in to inquire about our table and said that he noticed several groups go ahead of us. The door attendant said, "oh, sorry about that - we'll get you right to a table." He then proceeded to leave us outside for another 5 minutes while attending to other people in line with no sense of urgency at all. So, we left and it's unlikely we'll be back. I'm sure the cocktails are great but that is just plain bad service. I'd rather take my business to the many local Victoria restaurants and bars that treat their guests with...
