BANGKOK Thai Cuisine — Restaurant in Victoria

I've thought long and hard about posting this review. A couple weeks ago I ordered delivery through a third party app and I was sorely disappointed for so many reasons. First off, I was notified twice that the restaurant needed more time for my order, which resulted in it taking over 2 hours. I ordered 2 dishes, veg pad thai and green curry with tofu and rice. The pad thai was pretty bland, but the curry at first try was really tasty. At this point I was just happy to have some food so I let it go. When I went to eat my leftovers the next day, I took a bite and realized there was chicken in my tofu curry. I'm a vegetarian. Now I was fully upset and decided to contact the delivery app. They ended up being super great, contacted me right away and assured me they would contact the restaurant as soon as it was open. When they did, the restaurant refused to refund my order but agreed to refund the curry alone. Not only did this restaurant cross contaminate my food, violate my diet, take over 2 hours to serve sub-par food, but they refused to take responsibility or even apologize for their wrongdoing. Absolutely...

Given the 4.5 google rating I had high hopes. I was sorely disappointed. I ordered a green curry with chicken and a spring roll on the side. The portion of green curry was small and the taste was bland. While I was eating I noticed a small hair or something…..gross. I was hungry so I ate a few more bites but found myself inspecting each spoonful….I could not finish my meal. It took awhile to get my bill, the server was not attentive, nor did she ask how my meal was after she brought it to me or when she brought me the bill. I showed her the hair and she brought it to the attention of the owner. The owner told her to tell me it was a piece of the bamboo……she asked if I wanted it voided and I said yea. I will not be back and I do not recommend. If you’re looking for a good green curry try Pho Wisdom. Their green curry portion is more than twice of this place (for the same price) and the base is much more flavourful.

I was soooo stoked to eat here after some great reviews, but I was disappointed.

The food was fresh and beautiful- it was spiced nicely at medium heat.... But the flavour just, lacked.

The peanut sauce tasted like water was added and overall lacked the strong rich nutty flavour I've come to expect. Also, the Panang was aromatic and spicy, but again the taste felt watered down. I expected a stronger curry flavour, a stronger coconut flavour, and a bit of fish sauce flavour I have come to know and love.

This dish felt more like home cooking with someone following a recipe who can't taste the missing nuances of their dish.

The best thing in my order was the spring rolls.

For the price, I don't regret the buy- but it made me crave some better Thai curry rather than satiate the craving. It was equally as far from bad as it was from good. It was edible, but...
