The ice cream was great and the serving size was generous but ....
... what a frustrating experience queuing, ordering and paying. Perhaps I missed it, but I couldn't see the available flavours until I was right at the counter, so everyone in my party had to stand in the queue with me. This, of course, slows down the process as people are busy debating what to get when they should be ordering.
The staff, while friendly, were busy getting their 'step count' up behind the counter, dancing around one another and handling each step of the order. Personalised service is nice, but efficiency is better when it comes to ice cream! I am mystified why they don't have one person on the cash register. The waits would be shorter, customers would be happier and perhaps they'll make more money by not losing out on the customers who choose not to join long queues.
After receiving our ice cream, we stood and watched other customers go through the same inefficient process we had. Were it not for the frustration we felt, it would have been comical to watch mothers hurrying their children to choose a flavour while the queue grew longer ....
As it happens, we purchased ice cream from a stall on the Sunshine Coast a few days later that exemplified efficient yet personalised service. Jacksons could take a page from their process.
Great ice cream, generous servings and friendly staff ... it just needs an objective eye to...
Read moreIce cream very tasty, but the place is chaos! Four servers doing the same thing (taking order, scooping ice cream, taking payment) and then trying to squeeze past each other behind the counter. Why don't they have a "production line" to make things easier on themselves and the customers: one takes order and payment and the rest scoop? Plus, obviously, having to pay at the end of the process once you've already got an ice cream or two in your hand is a bit tricky! This needs to be thought through. Flavours and sizes are not displayed anywhere on a board outside so you can only see what's available and make a choice once you are at the counter, and that's tricky as the counter spans approx 3 meters. A one scoop helping is huge and two scoops are massive and a waste as you cannot get...
Read moreDespite ordering 3 ice creams and being charged for them, I got two, tried to talk to the girl behind cash (nose piercings and tattoos) she ignored me and went to take a hit off her vape pen.
Appreciate it.
Edited: There was clear communication, the one girl even clarified what was wanted to start. Made two out of three and then walked off, I said “excuse me, I’m missing a cone.” - loud enough. And they just continued to chat between themselves, while smoking their vape. I wasn’t aware that sanitary, I cannot come back as I left to go home - this was a treat for my daughter to show her the wharf before we left. No need...
