Coming from Vancouver and staying at this hotel for work, my first impression walking in was that the hotel looked pretty up-to-date. Quite modern. It was until I had spoken with the front desk staff, that I was met with unfriendly faces. I've never seen such bad customer service, the older lady, I believe her name is Rachel, and the other older man (both weren't wearing name tags), had no smiles on their faces. I asked about my booking as I had called earlier and she said "Lots of people call here, Who are you?" in a condescending tone. With my third encounter with her, she went out loudly saying again "I don't even know who you are, who are you?". From a person who's worked in customer service for years, this was very disappointing. There are other ways to speak to customers and this was not the way to do it. I felt this was very unprofessional. I have never been met with bad customer service from a hotel and this was my first time experiencing this. As a person of colour, I felt discriminated against, as some of my other coworkers staying at the hotel, who were not people of colour, were met with smiles and friendly hellos, while I didn't receive this same experience. My other coworker, who is a person of colour as well, shared the same experience, saying that the front desk staff did not treat her with the same level of respect and hospitality that all guests should be met with. I just avoid the staff, as it seems that every interaction I had with them, always seemed quite negative. Walking into my room, it looked nice but as I got a closer look, I saw that the leather backboards were falling apart (as seen in the picture). It wasn't bad, but added to a more negative experience. There was also a lot of noise going on in the hallways. If you're a light sleeper, avoid this hotel because while laying in bed, all I kept hearing was doors slamming. My coworkers and I complained about this. The only good thing about the hotel was the location, as it is within walking distance of downtown Victoria. Breakfast isn't bad, but you could find better quality food within the city. Overall, I would give a rating of 1/5, mostly because of my personal experience with some of the staff.

The only thing working in its favor is the location, it's somewhat central and almost close to everything. We booked a bay view king size bedroom and spent a pretty penny for it. There is a lot of overgrown trees in front of the balconies so you barely see a tiny bit of the bay which is OK as such but being so close to the carriage tours, you can hear the traffic throughout the night. The hotel does not have air conditioning nor is it renovated, so you actually have to keep the balcony doors open to keep the ventilation. There is only an outdoor pool and an indoor hot tub so plan pool visits accordingly. The worst thing was the service, we asked room service for bath robes to visit the swimming pool to which they said and I quote, "You have neither booked the penthouse nor one of our suites so you can't have bath robes" so the $400+ I spent per night were still too less for me to get somewhat a decent service. I would have been fine with it if only they would have put it across a little better maybe but yeah, it was sheer laziness at best and sheer classiest behavior at worst! Maybe, do better!

The location was fantastic. Unfortunately, the hotel fell short in some areas. The breakfast hot items were awful. Burnt, overcooked, undercooked potatoes, etc. We "ate" the breakfast five mornings but had to go supplement our meal elsewhere on 3 of those occassions. They state the pool is heated but it is very cold. You can even tell from the water jets coming into the pool that the "heating" is turned down quite low. The rooms were ok but had minor things that will make you go "can't they fix that?". Nothing was a show stopper, but you would think they could be on top of little things to make the rooms a bit more appealing. Ex: Cracked light switch, crooked bathroom fixtures on walls, very worn head boards on beds. The most annoying thing was how small the toilet seat was. It was almost laughable. Our child asked if it was a kids toilet. Needless to say it was very uncomfortable to use. We may use this hotel again but it will not be our first choice when in Victoria.

Terrible. You would think during covid rooms would be clean before you arrive. Not to mention I have asthma.. Rooms were dusty. Black on ceiling above balcony.. Glasses were dirty. No shampoo or body wash in bathrooms and staff was not very friendly. Got a 10 percent discount to compensate. But it was a huge disappointment as my mom who finally came out of her house from worrying about the covid who needed some r and r had to endure a dirty room feeling stressed that this place was not clean and now worrying about her heath. We expected a lovely clean room. Fyi rooms are not like the pictures at all balcony was tiny.. only good thing vew is beautiful .. dissapointed and sad. Standards for this hotel are low...

In response to your reply. I'm glad u have made changes to avoid this from happening to some one else. And to correct you. WE asked for a different room it was not offered as u stated. In fact I also asked for someone to come and clean the room it was not suggested to us. We were told we had to leave for someone to do it. . Due to covid we even left our room just so staff could clean that was an inconvenience to us as my mom was tired from traveling and should not have been part of our holiday experience. My mom was already worried about going out during covid. So I'm glad it was in that state due to being empty. Although the glasses were questionable and the forks were dirty.. so I hope u understand why my review is this way.. If I didnt ask nothing was going to be done. I called your staff twice once to say what state we found the room and second to ask for another room and if someone could come up and clean the room Not to mention when I got back i had to re clean myself as there was still dust on the head boards and I was not up to dealing with staff any more. . The other reason I asked was because on top of the dust and dirty glasses and forks the tub had a crack in it not to mention the silver fish on the floor which I took a picture of but didnt mention cause I didnt want to spoil my stay by focusing on all that was wrong but I did take pictures..fyi The room you showed us was in the same state dusty and had a view full of trees so we decided to stay were we were because the view was better. I redusted and cleaned the room myself after I asked your staff to clean it. So to correct you You DIDN'T offer us this option at all. I called and asked my mom is my witness and so is the gentleman that answerd the phone. You gave me a 10 percent discount on the room which I was grateful for that was it so I hope next time some one brings up and issue u do make these suggestions as u state u did with me. My concern with the place was the cleanliness. All in all I'm glad my experience has caused the new added changes thank...

First impression when we walked in lobby is beautiful, staff are kind, elevator is nice, hallways are clean, beds were comfy, carpet is vaccuumed, windows are clean, everything is organized, hotel room had a balcony with harbour view, beautiful kitchenette with stove, small fridge and a microwave and a table with two chairs and a drawer with cutlery had I known they had cutlery I wouldn't have brought my own, a keurig machine with coffee pods. We were on the top floor, the view is out of this world. We slept so well, it is walking distance to most places. We received impeccable service from front desk staff Lee, Lauren, Calder, Ana and one other man who works late nights I never got his name, those are the staff I had the pleasure of meeting. The breakfast had a few vegetarian options for me, I craved hash browns and cheese which weren't available but that's okay I survived off of those delicious little pancakes from the pancake machine, cornflakes cereal, toast with various jams and peanut butter, they have vegan margarine, chocolate, blueberry and banana muffins, little plain donuts, assorted yogurts, hot chocolate, various teas, orange and apple juices. The coastal coffee brew is delicious. The women running the breakfast buffet are so kind, prompt, efficient and understanding. We were told there is a staff shortage and no in house keeping, no problem we made our own beds and kept the rooms clean. At the end of the day we just needed a place to lay our heads. I felt like we slept on clouds, the beds and pillows are so comfy. I barely had time to watch tv as we were only here for a few days so we were out and about discovering downtown Victoria. This hotel is walking distance to Fisherman's Wharf, Beacon Hill Park, Giftshops, Parliament buildings and bus stops. Staff is very knowledgable about bus routes, tourist destinations gave us helpful advice that sure saved us a lot of time and stress. The ambiance is great, you get more bang for your buck by staying here. They have an indoor gym which we barely had time to use as the sidewalks became our treadmills and we craved fresh pacific air. This experience reminded me of Newfoundland the people were laid back and so friendly. We enjoyed meeting lots of people at the breakfast buffet and sharing stories. I met lots of people from USA, Alberta, Ontario and BC. The place was packed, my advice is to book early as they fill up fast. We are glad our travel agent booked months in advance. We will not forget our time here it was a memorable trip. We are thinking about...
