I first visited Kahuna at their Duncan location after a hot summer day of motorcycle riding and simply wanted the "classic" Hawaiian burger experience: some kind of beef patty, bacon, with pineapple on top. What I was met with, challenged not only my tastebuds, but my mindset of what I was TRULY searching for, and what was TRULY Hawaiian. I ordered the Big Kahuna because yah gotta order the namesake, and I didnt really pay much attention to the ingredients aside from noticing that this baby would have not only katsu style pork loin but pulled pork on it as well. It wasn't til I made it to the bitter-sweet end of my meal did I realize that this burger didn't even have a pineapple in it! That's just how delicious and immersive this particular burger experience was. The portion itself is immediately intimidating, but the flavours are incredibly distinct and nuanced, including the homemade sauces inspired by the south-pacific throughout (including pineapple). The whole flavour profile and most importantly the entire restaurant exudes vision and authenticity. I didn't miss the pineapple because it's not about the pineapple. I'll stop things there because I could go on, but just go and visit the Kahuna crew in the meantime. This is my third visit, and today I ordered the... Big Kahuna burger Papaya salad Hawaiian ice tea (which had orange and vanilla in it and that was awesome)

Jan 2024 review Food for two including drinks and tip: $80ish Positive: service is good, interior is festive, and does remind me of a burger joint in Oahu. Lots of different dishes to try and for you to come back. Poke and burgers are huge and lots of protein used. Try their summer drinks unique to this place. Its quite refreshing on a hot day. Street paid parking available. Dessert are a bit expensive but there are unique so worth coming back to try it all. Negative: mac salad and papaya salad is lackluster and generic. I tried it many times but their papaya salad has no papaya taste to it...go to Baan thai as what it should be... Burgers should auto come with fries including either coleslaw or papaya salad. Three times they did not have the ramen for the Ohahu burger...is this dried ramen coming from hawaii? This is the only burger that i first set my eyes on and still have not tasted it. Just like the other reviewer, one burger came out raw in the middle which i was given a new one after mentioning it to the floor sup. Food for thought: i really want to like this place but lackluster side dishes, x3 not having the main ingredient for your signature burger, and the raw burger incident has given me pause from returning. Might try again in 2025...

Update July... It's Official! These are the best Poke bowls in the island! Kauai revisited by taste. The Maui chicken plate special was amazing. The fries and dipping sauce are also good. Mahalo Kahuna! I've been looking for the opportunity to hit up Kahuna for months. It was well worth the wait and I won't wait as long again. My son is truly the international burger aficionado but I do know a good burger myself. A little messy, but a truly good burger IS a little out of hand. Outstanding flavour for both the Oahu and the Silent Rooster that we tried. The ramen bun is very novel. You will love it or hate it. I loved it. It sure adds a flavour and a density to the burger whole. The sauce, the ginger, the pineapple are all great. The slaw is really good too. We are taking a "belly break" before we get in to the desserts. Next time the poke bowls will be tested. Thank you to both the "co-Kahunas" who talked with us and made excellent suggestions. Very nice people. Kahuna.... when do you open in the westshore....?

Aloha Paradise: A Hidden Gem for Hawaiian Delights!

Nestled in the heart of Victoria, this delightful Hawaiian restaurant has been serving up a slice of paradise for the past 16 months. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with warm aloha spirit and a cozy, inviting atmosphere that instantly transports you to the islands.

The menu is a true celebration of Hawaiian cuisine, crafted with love and authenticity. Each dish is a masterpiece, bursting with vibrant flavors and fresh ingredients. Whether you're indulging in their Molokai burger, savoring the Dole Whip ice cream with lava drizzle, or delighting in the musubi tuna (which was crafted for us as part of the Taste of the City Tour) every bite is a testament to their passion for Hawaii.

The owners are the best partners you could hope for – friendly, kind, and genuinely caring. Their dedication to providing an exceptional dining experience is evident in every detail. The staff, inspired by their leadership, is incredibly attentive, making you feel like part of their ohana.

Their genuine love for Hawaiian culture shines through in every aspect, from the decor adorned with tropical flowers and surfboards to the traditional music that sets the perfect backdrop for your dining experience.

Don't miss out on their refreshing tropical cocktails, which are the perfect complement to the mouthwatering dishes. And if you're lucky, you might get a taste of their delicious desserts.

In just 16 months, this charming restaurant has become a beloved spot for locals and visitors alike. It's a place where you can escape the hustle and bustle, relax, and enjoy the true essence of Hawaii. If you're looking for an unforgettable dining experience, look no further – this Hawaiian haven is a must-visit!

I have to say, this place is a delight. The atmosphere is super casual, just like a joint on the beach in Hawai’i, but the food is seriously 5-star. The two guys who own it and run all the front-of-house are incredibly charming and were ever so good about our group of 7–ranging in age from 14 to 91–explaining the menu and making everyone feel at ease. They even brought us a complementary pallet cleanser of dole whip with their famous lava sauce! Delicious! We ended up ordering Combo Poke Bowls (with both salmon and tuna), Loco Moko, North Shore Shrimp Plate Lunch, and Vegan Poke. The Poke Bowls were works of art, and all-in-all wonderful—the fish was perfect! As for the Vegan Poke Bowl, I have not seen my vegetarian mother this excited about a restaurant meal in a very long time. The Loko Mokos and Shrimp Plate Lunches went to the picky eaters in our group, and everyone cleaned their bowls! And now a word about dessert. We had both the Haupia and Banoffee Pies, as well as the Passion Fruit Cheesecake, each one more delicious than the next. I can’t be bothered to write a lot of restaurant reviews, but this one was definitely worth making the effort for. Thank you, Gentlemen: you left my whole family happy and wanting to come back. I hope your wonderful restaurant will be around for a...
