MAiiZ Nixtamal Tortillería is a true gem in the world of Mexican cuisine. From the moment you walk through the doors, you are greeted with the warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home.

The star of the show at MAiiZ is definitely the tortillas, which are made fresh daily using traditional nixtamalization techniques. This process involves soaking the corn in an alkaline solution, which helps to soften the husk and enhance the flavor of the corn. The result is a tortilla that is soft, flavorful, and has a distinct corn taste that is unlike anything you'll find at a typical Mexican restaurant.

But the tortillas are just the beginning. The menu at MAiiZ is filled with a variety of delicious dishes, all made using fresh, high-quality ingredients. From the savory carne asada tacos to the creamy chile relleno, every dish is a testament to the care and attention that goes into every bite.

But what really sets MAiiZ apart is the commitment to sustainability and community. The restaurant sources its corn from local farmers and is committed to using environmentally-friendly practices. They also have a strong focus on education and offer classes on topics like tortilla-making and Mexican cuisine.

Overall, MAiiZ Nixtamal Tortillería is a must-visit for anyone who loves Mexican food. Whether you're a seasoned foodie or just looking for a delicious meal, you won't be...

The chicken tinga tamale was delicious. We also ordered a bunch of tacos and they were okay. The barbacoa was a bit dry and not as flavourful as expected. The shells were pretty decent, but I've had better stone ground tortillas. Prices were inflated.

I was really disappointed by the fact that they charge $1 for a slice of lime. I've been to a million taquerias and not once have I been charged for a lime. A whole lime costs $1, and they probably get wholesale prices which are even cheaper, so to charge that for a single slice is ridiculous. They will upsell you at every corner - do you want to add lime, maybe some cheese, do you want horchata, how about a dessert. And if you add cheese, lime, or salsa etc., they won't tell you that it's extra unless you ask. It's not listed on their menu board, only on the online menu once you select a dish. You should be telling your customers that information upfront. As someone who worked in restaurants for 10 years, I would upsell my customers, but not without first being transparent about how much it would be.

TLDR: food is decent, pricing and customer service need improvement. Personally I...

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Chinatown, this spot offers an authentic dining experience that buzzes with energy. The thick, crunchy chips set a promising tone, but the beef barbacoa quesadillas fell short, with the meat coming off surprisingly dry. On a brighter note, the chicken tinga chilaquiles delivered a more flavorful punch. Unfortunately, the horchata felt a bit lackluster compared to others I've tried. We left half of Esquites. While it’s an interesting place to explore, it’s not one I’d be eager to revisit.

Tried again and the service was great. This is definitely a great spot for anyone with celiac or looking for gluten-free meals. The esquites were decent, with corn in a warm, soupy salsa and a cheesy taste. The chicken tinga tamales were like chicken wrapped in cornbread, and the beef quesadilla was as expected. The churro had a distinctive corn flavor, which was unique. Overall, a solid choice if you’re looking for...

You gotta eat here! 🌮 We waited about 15 minutes on a busy Friday night for a table for two. We didn't get cocktails, but they looked amazing. We got 4 dishes: bean tamale, mushroom sopecitos, huitlacoche tacos, and mushroom chilaquiles. The chilaquiles and sopecitos were delicious, the tacos and tamale were good. The staff (both human and robot) were especially friendly, we had four dishes coming to our small table which were well timed to not overload the table. At the end of our meal we asked about the grasshopper tacos and our server brought a couple grasshoppers for us to try and held the door for us on the way out. Overall, it was a really fun experience. The music and atmosphere was lively, relaxed, a great place to bring a small group!

Digital menu only. You scan a QR code at the table. I think it is smart to always have a paper option available if a customer asks for one. They had inside on high up signs the menu too. Their gluten free enchiladas were so good! The beef had a wonderful smokiness. Red sauce is the best flavor versus the green per my own tastebuds. Their pesole for a restaurant was impressive and good. The quesadillas were not great for my tastes because the filling was not close to the edge, leaving more than an 1 1/2" of dry corn tortilla. 2nd the cheese was a small amount and it was not melted all the way! 3rd dry overall with not enough seasoning for the chicken inside. The dipping sauce helped with 1 but not enough to fix 3 quesadillas.
