Yesterday I had the chance to visit The Bingsu, Waterloo’s latest and greatest Korean dessert store~ From the minute you walk in and hear the front door bell chime it’s like your transported to a whole other world. Everything felt so calm peaceful when I first walked in. The whole vibe of the cafĂ© was very refreshing and quaint. I ordered the Mango Bingsu to share w/ my partner~ For those unfamiliar with Korean desserts, Bingsu is a Korean shaved ice dessert decorated with various toppings from beans to fresh fruit. The overall texture of the shaved ice quite soft and snow-like it was absolutely amazing. Additionally the fresh mango chunks paired with almond and black cherry ice cream toppings were to die for. Everything complimented each other and overall took the dish to a whole other level! I’ll definitely be back here to try out their other desserts so stay tuned till then~ overall if you’re looking for a nice and cozy cafĂ© for a date or even a cute place to share some dessert with your family The Bingsu is definitely the place to go! Strawberry almond bingsu was awesome. The kid loved it and was enough to split with four adults! We opted for the bigger size, which was a good idea. We’ve been here before and also had the mango bingsu a couple of times. Definitely worth it. We haven’t made a bad choice here yet. Will be back!

Ordered brown sugar and a taro milk tea. The tapioca is overcooked and falling apart. The taro was not properly mixed and the powder floated to the top. The service was atrociously disappointing. We ordered online at 4:39, and arrived there at 4:48. The online order said it would be ready at 4:49. The 2 workers ignored us for 5 minutes after we arrived finally one took notice and I told him I was looking for my order and he went back to making ice cream. 10 minutes after it was ready I caught the ladies attention and her know we were still waiting on our order. After showing it to her on my phone they finally started making it. A few minutes later she came back and asked to see it again. It seems like they didn't get any print out or any notice of the order and they didn't care or apologize about it. We finally left with our drinks at 5:09. And then discovered how bad they are. I do not recommend this location unless they are slow.

Have had massive craving for bingsu since I used to live in California, and was stoked to finally try this place today. Ordered a tiramisu and a strawberry almond bingsu. The tiramisu was pretty good, although way too much cocoa powder, but the big disappointment was the strawberry one I ordered.

I think there was some kind of mix up with the container or something because I got no almond flakes, and no strawberry. For my tiramisu I was given the ice flakes and the cake/ice cream in a different container but with the strawberry I was given the ice flakes in a large container and then in the smaller container I was given rock hard plain ice cream or milk or something (legit couldn't even make a dent in it for a solid 20 minutes with it sitting out to thaw.... I'm fairly certain it was ice flakes for a different order that got left out and melted a tad then refroze while in the Styrofoam container instead of the toppings that were supposed to be in there? not sure) again, didn't get any almond flakes nor any toppings for the strawberry almond bingsu. It was unfortunate that a very large group came in after me so I'm guessing that they were rushing to get orders out and messed mine up, but sheesh that left a bit of a bad taste which makes me not want to come back. I also wanted cheesecake pieces but completely forgot to include them for the strawberry bingsu which is my fault since it was my first time and I had to repeat what I was ordering a couple times to the cashier (I think the music was a tad loud he was having trouble hearing me), but they're also missing out on a very simple upcharge option by not offering when someone orders.

I don't think I'll be returning as most of their toppings came from the grocery store (not necessarily the worst thing, but I paid $15 for a bite size piece of tiramisu cheese cake and a very small scoop of tiramisu or coffee ice cream.) I understand that businesses need to make money and I didn't have an issue paying that price for a great dessert but this just missed the mark for me and was not worth the price in the slightest.

I understand its still pretty new and I hope they are able to adjust and overcome the growing pains. Would love to have more options for desserts in the area. Unfortunately wont be back for probably a long while, but wish...
