Decided to hit Mr. Mikes on New Years Day with the fam for dinner. We had never been but had some Gift cards and figured why not! I took a chance and didn't make reservations and when we arrived we were seated quickly. The restaurant was busy but not crazy which was nice. When our server greeted us they let us know there may be slight delay on our food as they were running a little behind. As I flipped through the menu I kept hearing the voices of everyone that has told me to avoid this restaurant due to overpriced small portion dishes. From what I could see everything seemed reasonable and steaks listed their size so I would assume you get what you request. We ordered some apps and drinks and our meals. I got Mr. Mikes signature Antler Ale to drink. A decent dark beer similar to Rickards Red. We waited maybe 10 min for our apps (potato skins and fried pickles) which was reasonable. Wait staff were very attentive and quickly cleared empty plates and topped up drinks. Only a few min after we finished with our apps our food came. No real delay at all. I had ordered the Sriracha Shrimpin Sirloin. A 6oz sirloin cooked to order (I like mine medium), a dozen panko breaded shrimp with a Sriracha mango sauce on them, hefty onion rings, some cooked carrots and Brussel sprouts, garlic mashed potatoes and a chili lime aoli to dip. I was definitely not disappointed with portions and felt I was getting what I paid for. The shrimp were so good! Like addictive good! Sweet and a good spicy kick. Veggies were cooked just right and were tasty. The steak was amazing! Cooked perfectly and had that perfect grilled taste. Needed a bit of extra salt and pepper but that's just how I like it. Potatoes we great and the onion rings were some of the best I've had in a real long time! My daughter had a cheese quesadilla and said it was really good and my wife had the White Cheddar Mac & Cheese which she said was also delicious. All in all a great meal. We left a decent tip and walked out with full, happy bellies! We will definitely be back!
TLDR: First visit, no wait, great service, food was delicious and cooked perfectly. Sriracha Shrimpin Sirloin was well worth it. Everyone left full and happy. Would...
Read moreIf I could rate this less than one star I would. Listen we understand it was st Patrick’s day and it was busy but our complaint is toward the ownership/ management. When we arrived to the restaurant we were not greeted and there were 3 hosts standing at front door, yet someone else who walks in after us gets the royal treatment. Not the end of the world at all. After finally being seated we waited 20 minutes for our server( should have left) thankfully our server was awesome! As we waited we witnessed multiple tables sending food back and lots of complaining it was clearly weighing on the server and I felt terrible. She was left to deal with each of these kitchen related complaints alone with no management support. This was already a bad sign and seemingly not a good night for the restaurant… but it gets actually much worse.
Now for the show- A fight breaks out in the kitchen! Loud screaming, swearing and a dead silent restaurant listening In to a fight which as we found out was between a kitchen manager and a 19 year old female staff member. This was Absolutely appalling and downright disrespectful. We continue to eat our meal which thankfully was good, questioning how a restaurant and staff can rebound and what type of apology would be offered to each table for what turned into a dinner and a show. we then pay our bill and nothing was said or done at all to apologize or make right as if we all were not witness to what felt like a minor verbal assault. As we’re leaving I asked if the owner was present or manager of the restaurant and were told they were sitting at the bar during this episode. Now that is a missed opportunity on their part- each and every person in there should have been directly approached and apologized to for what was a circus act. You should thank your workers for showing up to work tomorrow if they do because what my family were witness to has left enough of an impression that we will never return to this establishment or a Mr Mikes...
Read moreOkay. We went 3 times to Mr. Mike's. The first time we showed up with a few friends and it was quite busy. We got a booth for all of us (close to where some games are stored), but the atmosphere was a little noisy and I thought it was a little cold (okay, I belong to the people that are feeling cold easily). The noise was a bit too much, it was hard to have a conversation at the table. I ordered the chicken butter bowl - it was good, but it could have been more. The second time I went with my husband only. He really enjoyed his hamburger and was happy. I ordered the Classic Mikeburger with Sweetpotato Fries - the Burger was simply boring and my fries were partly black, so I didn't eat them. The third time I went with my husband again. I ordered a salad with grilled chicken and it was quite good. The salad came with a knife that was used - I assumed they only cut my chicken with it, but preferred not to use it. My husband ordered something with chicken and cornbread and was very disappointed. It came with a little cornbread (he said it tasted more like carrots), a little coleslaw and two pieces of fried chicken wings. After that, he was still hungry. The price for that dish is also quite $$$. The staff was always friendly, - but the last time we went I decided to finally say something, but even though it wasn't busy at all, the girl there didn't seem to be wanting to communicate with us.
We gave that place 3 chances, but there was always something. I didn't experience this with any other...
