Overpriced Pub Fare Found some gift cards at Costco for the Gibbons "brand" of restaurants. Since we were headed up to Whistler, I thought it would be a good buy. After looking at the various options online, we settled on Stonesedge because it seemed to be the one most suited for families. We could only get a reservation for 5:30pm so we rushed back after a day's skiing to get ready for dinner. When we arrived, the restaurant was mostly empty. Service by our waitress was friendly but the food was way overpriced for they quality served. When seated, our waitress asked if we wanted some bread to start...$6...and we haven't even looked at the menu. It would have been nice if she had informed us there was a cost to the bread. My wife ordered an appetizer (they call it a "small plate") of surf and turf. Boy...they weren't kidding when they said "small plate". Two small pieces of pork belly which came very dry and tough and two scallops...$17 for that plate. On the plus side, the Caesar Salad I ordered with my burger was most excellent. The penko they used as a topping gave it a really nice texture and the dressing was very very tasty. $175 later ($100 gift card from Costco for $80 so I saved $20)...to feed a family of 5. Nothing outrageous ordered. My niece and I both had a beer with our burgers each and my kids had pop with theirs. My wife ordered a half order of Kale Caesar Salad with her Surf and Turf. I don't mind spending the money if I got a good meal but really...this was glorified pub fare. I would rather have spent $250 at the restaurant named after a device that holds beer.

A group of 4 of us each ordered their fall fixed price 3 course menu. The food was well portioned. The appetizers we had (1x Halloumi sticks, 3x Pork Belly) were fantastic, but both the half rack Ribs mains and the Steak mains were very salty. Fries were very good! We got 3 cheesecakes and 1 choco cake for dessert, and it ended the meal on a much better note, though the cheesecake crust was crumbly and wasn't what we were expecting of cheesecake crust. However, I can't in good conscience rate this higher because at the end of the night, all of us experienced varying degrees of upset stomachs. From cramps to diarrhea. There must have been something with the ribs or the pork belly, my wife and I shared each other's food. One member did not try the other mains, and the last member tried the other member's ribs and did not eat from mine nor my wife's food.

Not up to par with other Whistler restaurants, food was below expectations and we waited 45 min for food (including apps) when restaurant was 1/3 full. Coq au vin (chicken) was quite a small portion: 2 small pieces of chicken (1 drumstick and 1 wing), 3 sad mini carrots, 2 thin stalks of broccolini, 1 small king oyster mushroom slice- good crisp. 2 in our party ordered it and were disappointed. The oyster was my favorite part but wish there was more than a bite. Fries with truffle mayo were standard quality but overpriced as well, would recommend the regular fries. Service was below average for the price point-waitress only checked in once right after we got the food, couldn’t get her attention when we finished and had to ask another waiter for the check.

As someone with over 10 years experience in the service industry working my way up from host - manager, I unfortunately have to say I had a very unpleasant interaction here yesterday. My friend and I had come in to get a bite and there were 3 open large tables available inside and 1 two top available. We asked for a 4 seater table in the corner, saying we would be quickly in and out but would prefer just more space, and the host did not want to help us at all. She was very dismissive and I would understand that had there been only one large table available, but there were 3 available. She insisted they would be getting busy “later on” and even when we said we’d happily move to a smaller table if multiple larger groups came in at once and there was a rush, she still did not want to help. She went back to tell the manager which I get in the industry is protocol, but she must have said something worse than what really happened because when the manager came out to talk to us his first words were “Are you girls okay?” No smile, no hello, no friendliness at all. It was just an immediately combative and defensive response and we had not even said a word to him yet. When we tried to explain again we just asked for the corner table and would be in and out, he again reiterated they could only seat us at the two top. I get the industry can be draining but this whole interaction was so bad. We left, didn’t even sit down.

Not only were we treated so poorly and rudely but if there was another 2 top coming in after us that wanted a table inside and we had taken the last two top, they would HAVE to sit at a large table as that would be the only thing available! Or maybe they’d be turned away.

To be honest it was very off-putting and shocking. I’ve never felt so unwelcome or treated so poorly somewhere. I don’t know if the staff was just having a bad morning or what, but that is not how you handle guests or run an establishment. Really disappointed because the way it was “handled” was so unecessary and the manager could have absolutely turned things around (as I have done many times as a manager) but didn’t care to even be friendly. Super disappointing experience and writing this feels like a joke because I cannot believe we were really...

We came there around 10:30 AM and was told to come back 30 mins later, which we did. By this point, our party was very hungry, thinking it wouldn’t be long before we were fed. About an hour later, and the restaurant was not even full. We got no updates whatsoever about when our food will arrive. Finally saw the server, asked her how long it would be as it’s been almost an hour( it’s now 11:50AM). The server rudely corrected me and said it couldn’t have been more than 45 minutes. Then 2 mins later, she came back to correct me again that actually she put the order in 40 mins ago as if I should be grateful that it has not been an hour to wait for breakfast. Had she only apologize and tell us oh we have a delay in the kitchen, we would have been fine. Then the food finally came out at a but past 12PM, it was so cold and stale like it was sitting on the freaking table for 30 mins. I couldn’t even cut into my French toast it was so dry and stale. So I ate the fruits on it. It was $15 for 2 pieces of banana and some berries basically. My sister and partners food was also cold and stale. I don’t understand the high ratings. Perhaps we went on a bad day but from the attitude of the server to the food, I would give it a negative 10 if I could. I wa so hungry and mad at this point I walked out and went to Hot Buns 2 mins down and ordered a crepe. Basically spent 1.5 hours at a restaurant just to starve and eat somewhere...
