Escape! Whistler — Attraction in Whistler Resort Municipality

My wife and I recently visited your establishment to celebrate our 5 year anniversary and we were excited to try out your escape room experience. We have been to numerous escape rooms all over the world, and we were looking forward to experiencing your interactive and interesting room.

However, we were left feeling dissatisfied and disappointed with the way our experience ended. While we found the room to be enjoyable and engaging, the ending left a sour taste in our mouths. We were given only 45 minutes to complete the room, which is shorter than the usual 1-hour time limit in most escape rooms we've visited before. As a result, we were rushed and felt pressured to finish the room quickly.

Although we were very close to solving the final puzzle (3-4 minutes as per a staff member), we were unable to complete it within the time limit. We were disappointed to find that as soon as the time was up, the staff rushed in to reset the room and told us the ending in just 30 seconds. This left us feeling defeated and cheated out of the experience, especially since we were so close to reaching the most exciting part of the room.

In other escape rooms we've visited, we've been given an extra 5-10 minutes if we were close to finishing, which we found to be a considerate gesture. Unfortunately, this was not the case with your establishment. We felt like the staff only cared about getting us in and out as quickly as possible, without any regard for our enjoyment of the experience.

We hope you can understand our disappointment and frustration with how our experience at your establishment turned out. While we enjoyed the room itself, the rushed ending ruined the overall experience for us. We hope you can take this feedback into consideration and make changes to improve the experience for future customers.

Edit (changing from 1 star to 2 stars): An owner gave me a called and asked for feedback and my prospective. Note: our reservation was at 4:20 and we arrived at 4:17. We were advised to come 10-15 minutes before our time to fill the waiver. Because we didn't arrive 10-15 minutes earlier we were not given extra time in the escape room (our fault). When I gave my feedback to make each room 60 minutes instead of 45 minutes like most of other escape rooms around the world I was told they can't do it because the rent in Whistler is very expensive and they would have to change their entire...

My family loves escape rooms however our experience here at Whistler unfortunately was not the best. The staff is great and the location but the process to book was quite difficult as you cannot just check availability for different rooms at one time. You have to go into each room and individually check which was pretty frustrating and then the online liability form took quite a bit of time and steps just to sign for one person via online. I would recommend waiting to fill those out when you arrive as it seemed like less steps when there but show up a little early as it does still take some time.

The main reason for the two star rating was our overall experience in the escape room itself. We chose the snowed in cabin room , labeled intermediate which was the same level of the ones we were recommended to do with small children under 10 when we stopped in earlier. It was extremely difficult and in our opinion should be labeled difficult/expert instead of intermediate. I don’t think we got even one part on our own and needed clues for everything and at the end still didn’t even finish 1/2 of the room. It was definitely out of our skill level which unfortunately made some unhappy and frustrated kids.

I think the rate was $38/person even for small children and because over 1/2 of ours if not all of them couldn’t participate it kind of just made it not worth it for us:(
