A Convenient Stay at Listel Hotel, Whistler
During my recent trip to Whistler, I had the opportunity to stay at the Listel Hotel. While the hotel had some areas that could benefit from improvement, it offered a convenient location, decent service, and the added bonus of allowing early check-in.
Location: One of the main highlights of the Listel Hotel is its prime location in the heart of Whistler Village. It is within walking distance of the ski lifts, shops, restaurants, and other attractions. This made it incredibly convenient to explore the village and access the nearby outdoor activities.
Rooms: The rooms at the Listel Hotel, unfortunately, fell short of my expectations. They can be described as average and somewhat outdated. The furnishings and decor could use a refresh to create a more modern and comfortable ambiance. However, the rooms were clean and provided a decent level of comfort for a short stay.
Cleanliness: Overall, the cleanliness of the Listel Hotel was average. While the housekeeping staff maintained a generally tidy environment, there were a few instances where I noticed some minor cleanliness issues. It would be beneficial for the hotel to pay closer attention to details and ensure consistent cleanliness throughout the premises.
Amenities: The hotel's amenities were mediocre at best. While there were the essential facilities such as a fitness center and a restaurant, they lacked the extra touches that could enhance the overall guest experience. The hotel could consider adding more amenities, such as a spa or a lounge area, to elevate the stay and provide additional comfort and relaxation options.
Service: The service at the Listel Hotel was decent and satisfactory. The staff members were friendly and accommodating, ensuring a smooth check-in process. The highlight of the service experience was the hotel's willingness to allow early check-in, which provided convenience and flexibility for guests arriving ahead of schedule.
Conclusion: In conclusion, the Listel Hotel in Whistler offers a convenient location and decent service, with the added benefit of allowing early check-in. However, the hotel falls short in terms of room quality, cleanliness, and amenities. While the rooms may feel somewhat outdated, they are clean and provide a satisfactory level of comfort. The hotel could benefit from investing in renovations to improve the overall guest experience. Despite its shortcomings, the Listel Hotel can be a suitable choice for travelers seeking a well-located accommodation option in...
Read moreI booked this as a super last minute accommodation at whistler for 3 nights due to my prior accommodation falling through. I ignored the bad reviews, the price was good for a last minute booking, and the location looked pretty good on the map (4 min walk to gondola per google maps but realistically more like 8-10 min with all the ski gear).
Why 1-star? My experience was so bad I left after 2 nights and forfeited the last night without getting any refund.
I was traveling with my dog, I had alerted the hotel before my arrival and they assured me they are pet friendly and have specific rooms designated for guests with dogs. Upon my arrival, I learned that the room they assigned us was on the ground floor RIGHT NEXT to the lobby (I’m talking like 1 foot away from the lobby, if even), where the check-in desk and ski storage room were located. This was the busiest area in the entire hotel (there was also a bar, hot tub, restaurant, elevators in this lobby), and you decided to put a dog in the room closest to all this noise?! My dog is well trained, travels with me frequently on planes around the world, and is generally very desensitized to noise, but this was far too much stimulation and ruckus for my him to be able to sleep soundly. I have stayed at many dog friendly hotels, and usually the staff have the common sense to give us the room furthest away from the lobby, elevators, and any commotion. This hotel thinks that the opposite would be the best for everyone.
Aside from that, like many of the other reviews have stated, the hotel rooms are very old. Funny smell in the bathroom. Only one small hot tub for the entire hotel so be prepared to share. Not very comfortable. If you’re already spending a ton of money to ski at whistler, you might as well treat yourself to nicer accommodation.
There is parking, it’s a tight lot and cost about $30 per night, not great but not uncommon for Whistler pricing.
I liked that there are free refills of cold water and sparkling water available so 1...
Read moreAs noted in previous reviews, the location of the Listel is one of its main draws: only about 5 minutes walk from the Whistler and Excaliber gondalas but behind the main thoroughfare so very quiet. |Also as noted previously, the hotel is very clean, both in public areas and in the rooms. The decor is somewhat tired but not in a battered or broken way, just jaded. The beds were very comfortable.|However, the walls are paper-thin so the clump of ski boots is very audible, as are the conversations in the corridors or the room next door. It wasn't helped that we had a large crowd of young adults trying to have a rave both in the corridor and in the room next door. The staff did, however, deal with it very quickly.|One of the biggest issues was the heating, or lack of. Heating is supplied via a large fan heater arrangement that looks like it has been there since the 1980s. It does not warm up the rooms and is very noisy and drying and it has to be on all the time as the heat dissipates quickly. We were there during the cold spell when it was about -26 degrees centigrade and there was ice on the inside of the windows. Which, it turned out were only single glazed. There is no radiator or heating rail in the bathroom so nowhere to dry ski clothes. Not even a rack to put them in front of the fan heater.|It also seems a bit of a retrograde step not to have any breakfast provision at all. Especially as there used to be at this hotel. Not much is needed - just pastries, fruit and coffee possibly. Trying to hunt around for breakfast before skiing is not ideal. We ended up just buying pastries from the supermarket the night before.|The ski valet is good in that its somewhere to put the skis but nowhere to dry out/warm up boots.|All in all, if I was visiting Whistler again, I would happily consider this hotel. But I won't be visiting...
