Premium Mountain Rentals definitely deserves five stars. Being from Ontario and not wanting to deal with hauling our older ski and snowboard equipment across the country, my Dad and I rented for a full week from Premium Mountain Rental for our Whistler trip this past December 2019.
I think Premium Mountain made the difference between a good ski trip and great ski trip. First and foremost their location is excellent, right in the heart of Whistler Village and their shop is about 500 feet from the Whistler Gondola, it made for an easy morning coming in and out. A fancy expresso/coffee machine was there complimentary if we needed a morning caffeine boost. At lunch and at the end of the day it was easy to drop everything back off to dry off and not worry about things getting stolen. They are right next door to the Crystal Lodge which had happy hour deals so it was so handy to park the rental gear back at the shop then go for beer and wings right next door. "The Old Spaghetti Factory" restaurant is also right next door.
The rental equipment was brand new and everything was all waxed up and ready to go when we arrived the first morning. They even went ahead and re-waxed near the end of the week which was greatly appreciated. I also appreciated their website and the fact that you can select the specific make/model out of their rental inventory ahead of time, I actually received several compliments on the snowboard that I rented (brand new Nitro Team Wide 162cm). The board rode like a dream and was very fast on all types of snow types and weather. My Dad was able to switch skis to a different pair he liked better after the first day. It was no issue changing him over to this new pair and we received a credit back for it being a lower rental tier.
I have to give a shout out to the staff, they were all fantastic. I specifically recall staff members Lewis and Janice being so genuine and friendly. I really felt everyone in the shop cared about each person's skiing and riding experience and it was clear they were all were striving to make sure everyone had the best day on the mountain. It was clear all the staff have a passion for the Whistler lifestyle and their customer experience they delivered was beyond what we were expecting.
Thank you very much Premium Mountain Rental, I would without question recommend your rental shop to anyone and everyone. I am now dreaming of returning in the next few years during the summer for a mountain bike trip.

Read moreJohannes made sure my husband and I had boots, skis and poles that fit well and matched our abilities. We like to challenge ourselves to double black diamond terrain when we can. We also like to coast down the groomers and play in the tree runs on occasion. Our gear enabled us to do everything, and with ease. Each employee was helpful and genuinely seemed like they enjoyed their jobs. Very friendly and knowledgeable people. I noticed even novice skiers and snowboarders getting fitted for gear, which is good to know for those of you new to these snow sports. Their shop is conveniently located near the Old Spaghetti Factory, which is about a block away from the base chairs and gondolas. Easy to find, and they have a cart waiting for you when the mountain shuts down for the day so you can drop your gear off without having to walk down the stairs to their shop. Our shoes were held in valet for us so we could walk back to our hotel in comfort with our ski boots hanging over our shoulders. We highly recommend renting gear here. My husband needed a smaller boot size after our first day and they swapped out the gear without hesitation. The valet service was especially helpful as we could leave our skis and poles there to pickup for the next day of skiing. We aren't snowboarders, but there were plenty of boarders in the shop finding the gear they needed as well. The staff are equally versed in both disciplines. They even got us freshly pulled cappuccinos while we were signing our waivers! Important side note: this is one of a few shops left that is independently owned and operated. We seek out independent shops when we visit Whistler Village to support those small businesses. I certainly feel good about spending my...
Read moreIf you are used to Skiing in Europe then you must read this, if you ski in North America you should read this.
First, buy the demo package, switching skis to make sure you're on the right ski for that day's conditions is game changing (Whistler's variety day to day is different to Europe) and if you're looking to buy then use it to test stuff out.
Secondly, the team at Premium are amazing. They are all really friendly and knowledgeable, so you can discuss your needs and experience and they will give you what is best for you. They test all their skis, so their knowledge is first hand. They don't just ask you your experience level and stand a pair of skis next to you that look the right length and say see you in a week. They will take the time to find the ski that will work best that day based on a number of different variables. I skied 5 different skis in 10 days and learned so much. They have some great skis too so you will always get a good ski even if it is different to what you are used to and if you ski in Europe then you need the team to educate you, like they did me, on wider skis and non-traditional brands. You won't be handed a clapped out set of all mountain skis, I skied a brand new pair and 2 almost new pairs out of my 5 skis.
Finally, I want to shout out to Ben, Pol and India in particular for making switching skis most days so easy and being great humans generally.
One more thing, the location and valet service is great but other places have that so they are equal...
