I went to this restaurant twice. The first time was good, and I gave a 5 star review, but the second time was so awful that I will reduce to 1 star only. The food was ok the second time, but the service on week days is absolutely horrible. I was never treated this rudely in any restaurant that i can remember. I have been to dozens of sushi restaurants before, and the overall experience was much better than Asia Express. The service from the first time was good, and the waitress was always smiling and nice. The second time, we were served by the rudest and most miserable waitress in the GTA. At the beginning, my partner saw the straw in the water was dirty which wasn't a big deal so he politely asked her for another straw, but she snapped back in refusal until he showed her a black smudge after which she awkwardly smiled and got another straw. Then we waited for more than 30 mins before the all you can eat dishes started coming but, they initially brought the wrong dishes to us, after we promptly alerted them it's for the wrong table, the same server verified whether we were lying or not by checking our iPad to which she confirmed that we were right, it was very awkward. Then, in additon to bringing out the dishes very slowly, they didn't bring some of them at all. Later as the food started coming it was either lukewarm or cold compared to our previous visit. With some dishes coming and others being missed, we placed multiple orders on the ipad to which the server came to our table without any food and asked why we placed duplicate orders. We let her know we have been waiting for more than 30 mins and several dishes were missed, she brushed it off and then the cold food started coming. She never acknowledged the slow pace or the inaccuracy indicating this was business as usual. The experience was so bad that for the first time in our lives with probably 1000s of restaurant visits we tipped 0 zero not a single cent. The server was so oblivious to how dissatisfied we were that after we paid the bill in cash she kept the change. My partner had to go over to the counter and ask for his change which was embarrassing and disappointingly necessary. The only positive was that the bill was low compared to other Japanese all you can eat in the GTA but with such a bad experience even a happy meal at...
Read moreHave been going here for quite some time but my last experience will definitely be just that. Waited 1hr and 23minutes after the 30min suggestive wait time.. Did not even apologize or anything, told me it was my fault and I should be prepared for this. Let's keep in mind there was about 7 workers I saw, 3 guests dining in and 2 customers who came and go for takeout, not exactly busy or anything compared to usual. Also this was a 2hr wait time for 3 6piece rolls.. Will never return again as the service is quite poor now and the wait time for such minimal amount of food is totally not worth it.(had to wait because they flat out refused a refund and I didn't even really want the food after 1hr into my wait to be honest but also didn't wanna lose out on the money I had just spent for it) restaurant employee also refused to acknowledge that they are responsible for order accuracy aka the suggested time you give us which was never wrong before by THIS much and when asking for the manager, there was no manager on duty conveniently enough for her. NEVER pay before your order is complete, they don't like refunding even when they...
Read moreStepping into Asia Express one hopes for a culinary journey featuring fresh fish and artfully crafted rolls, but our visit delivered only a truly disappointing experience defined by utter mediocrity and truly abysmal service. The sushi itself has a study in mediocre; the rice was gummy , many dishes lacking flavour and taste, Rolls, loosely constructed, offered uninspired combinations and fell apart upon the slightest touch, rendering the entire meal forgettable. However, the true low point was the customer service. Our server seemed actively disengaged from the moment we arrived, greeting us with indifference and maintaining a palpable air of annoyance throughout our meal. Forgotten requests, eye-rolls in response to simple questions, and brusque, dismissive replies made us feel less like valued customers and more like an inconvenience. The combination of forgettable cuisine and actively hostile service transformed what should have been a pleasant dinner into a deeply regrettable evening. Take your money and your appetite to Rainbow Sushi; because Asia Express is one sushi spot to avoid...
