Maple Garden — Restaurant in Whitby

We ordered because I saw on Facebook they're pretty good and had semi decent reviews.

We ordered general Tao, it came sauceless which whenever we've had general Tao you get sauce on everywhere else, when we called and asked about it the person on the phone got super defensive, and said oh you have to ask for sauce. Why wouldn't you offer and say do you want sauce with that if it's supposed to come with sauce but you don't put it?

The general Tao chicken was also undercooked in certain peices.

The wonton soup in the egg rolls were the best part we all agreed.

The rice had no veggies in it which seemed cheap, and the beef and broccoli only had like 2 types of veggies in it. Seemelike they are cheaping out. I totally get prices of everything's going up but I'd rather pay more for a better quality meal, quality over quantity. We also found out after you have to specifically add on fortune cookies on the side for 5 cents each, so that was a bummer. I don't mean to bash, we are all in hard times but we are all very sad...

We’ve been ordering from Maple Gardens for years. Their eggrolls used to be the best in town — big, packed full, super crispy. Now they’re barely filled and come out soggy in the middle. Really disappointing shift from what made them amazing. Our latest order had some serious issues. A couple items were undercooked and arrived warm at best. The battered shrimp was the biggest miss — batter about half an inch thick and still raw inside, shrimp undercooked. We called right away and to their credit, they corrected the problem quickly and sent a fresh order. That replacement was excellent: thin crispy batter and perfectly cooked seafood. But here’s the thing — same order, same day, two completely different results. That’s a red flag for consistency. It seems there may be new ownership or changed recipes, and unfortunately, the quality has slipped. We miss the old Maple Gardens and hope they bring back the standards that made them...

I do not like to leave this kind of review. However for those wanting to order from Maple Garden please read my review 🤔 I have been a very loyal customer to this establishment for atleast the last eight years. I ordered out from them tonight and the portions were ridiculously small. Some of my order was missing, food was cold and again, the portions were disgustingly small. Maple Garden, if you were downsizing this way, perhaps let the consumers know before hand. Thank you in advance ! FYI of you have the time to check out The Golden Gate in Courtice, I loved it much!
