I don’t normally leave negative reviews, as my wife and I appreciate the hard work and dedication that goes into running a restaurant. However, in this particular situation, I have decided to write this anyways.
My wife and I have been coming here for many years. The food and service has always been top notch, 5/5. I generally order the same items when we go, a mix of cooked and raw items.
Today, while out for an AYCE lunch, I found that some of the raw fish tasted a bit off to me, and I was concerned about continuing to eat it. I ate most of what I had ordered, but left about a roll and a half aside.
I ordered some more food, staying away from the raw fish.
When it came time to get the check, the server said that she would have to charge for the food that I didn’t eat. I kindly tried to explain to her that it tasted off to me and that’s why I didn’t eat it, and that it wasn’t a situation where I ordered too much food and couldn’t finish it all, as was evidenced by the fact I had ordered more food, explicitly staying away from the raw fish.
She said “it’s all you can eat”, and that I should have “just ate it and then ordered more.” I asked her if she would eat something that didn’t taste right? She had no answer.
I again tried to explain to her, that no, the raw fish had an off taste today, and I didn’t feel comfortable eating it, and that my wife and I had been coming here for many many years, and this is the first time that we’ve ever had any left over food, and it was due to a quality issue.
The server left the table for a few moments, returning to tell me that she had to charge me.
It wasn’t about the $5 that she wanted to charge, it was the fact that she wanted me to pay for something that her customer had found to be unsatisfactory.
I told her that I didn’t think it was appropriate to be asking me to pay for the uneaten 1.5 rolls under these circumstances, and that I would not be paying the extra $5 charge. She then walked away and came back with the bill, without any additional charges, and proceeded to say maybe we shouldn’t come back.
Haha, jokes on you, we weren’t planning to come back after you treated a repeat and loyal customer like that. I told her exactly that, you just lost a loyal customer over a small amount of food.
For the past number of years, this has been our go to sushi spot, for amazing food and service. At least once or twice a month we would go for AYCE sushi lunches/dinners. We will not be returning as a result of this experience.
I would like to mention, that this is just one experience with one of the servers. From the time this server brought us to our table, she had a really poor / sour attitude.
This poor experience does not represent the rest of the wonderful servers, and the amazing chefs.
Out of all the times we have been here, everything has been amazing, however, this one experience ruined it all for my wife and I.
By sharing my feedback about the poor tasting fish with the server, I did not expect nor want any discount, but I certainly did not expect to be charged more for the food that I wasn’t satisfied with. This is where the problem...
Read moreParty of 3. Arrival time - 8:30pm.
Sushi and sashimi was good; however, nothing you couldn't find in any other sushi restaurant though. The quality of their hot food is lacking but the menu for hot dishes is extensive so lots of different choices.
Food comes fast but some of our orders were incorrect.
Service is AWFUL. The staff look depressed while working and act as if they are annoyed with the presence of customers in their restaurant. Comical.
9:20pm - a waiter/manager(?) comes up and asks if we can settle the bill because they close at 10pm - being that it was 40 MINS until closing time, we found that a bit strange but we settled up anyway.
9:25pm - told us it is "last call" for orders and that we cannot get dessert due to the time. (huh?!?)
9:30pm - staff are now all in winter jackets serving customers, settling bills, or sitting in a row by the front door ready to go. One angry waitress comes over and says "do you know we close at 10pm?"......"um yes, the first guy told us that which is why we already paid our bill!!"
9:35pm - waitress comes back and says "ok the restaurant is almost closing now." At this point my party is annoyed and one of us said "I understand you close at 10pm, but it is 9:37pm now showing her on his phone." The waitress gets annoyed, sighs, shakes her head, and rolls her eyes. two minutes later the waiter/manager(?) comes over and says "if you want a box, we can give you a box to take what's left home." HUH?!?! it's not even close to 10pm yet and they already scared off 2 other tables. So we said "can you tell us this when it is closer to closing time?"
At this point the waiter says: "So you expect us all to wait for you?"........huh?!? wait for us?!?! WHY are you even waiting to go home when it's not even 9:45pm!!
So we had enough. We already paid the bill with tip (which I wish we hadn't tipped now) so we just got up and left.
As we were putting on our jackets, the rude waiter and waitress come back to our table and say "next time remember that we have a two hour limit on dining."
hmm.......1) that's perfectly understandable but on top of not being able to figure out what it means to close at 10pm, you also are making an insinuation about time that makes no sense because we sat down at 8:30pm, and settled our bill by 9:30pm. 2) we won't ever be back. You won't even need to come into work if you keep up this...
Read moreGreat food! But horrible, horrible service from especially one server. Also, their rewards program is not fair and sketchy. On there reward card it is clearly printed that for every dinner is 1 stamp or for every 2 lunches is 1 stamp, once you reach 12 stamps you can redeem for a free meal for 1 person. However, If you try to redeem your stamps for 1 free meal and there are 3 people eating. They will not give you 2 stamps for the other 2 persons you are paying for. I would like to stress how unfair and cheap this antic is. "They are saying they are giving you a reward but when trying to build up your meal points, they won't give you a stamp for your paid meals." They claim it's combining offers. I say "it's a rip off, and really a low move", anyone can see, that if you use a free meal for 1 person out of your party of 3, then pay full price for the other 2, is that not warranted 2 meal stamps? The other person you are getting the free meal for, is separate. When I tried to explain my point of view to the server, she got all frustrated and said "you talk to much, I will stamp your card" and Rudely walked away. I then proceeded to find the owner or manager, that seemed to understand (at that time) and ask that the owner please call me to talk about the situation and the rude server, but when I tried calling the next day, I was told that the the owner is not around, that he has other businesses to attend to! The manager I was speaking to even tried to defend there shifty "money saving" rewards program. In the end, there are many more good sushi places out there that would like my business! My review and comments for this establishement is definitely 110% thumbs down. There Rewards program is terrible and shifty as the rules seem to change on whom ever is in charge at the time and AGAIN terrible, terrible rude server. please note after reading the other reviews, I am noticing that there is definitely a trend with the bad customer service! "If so much people are stressing how bad and depressing your service is, should you not...
