Whitby Jerk Stop — Restaurant in Whitby

It is really a hidden gem. Found it by accident and was pleasantly surprised by the food and the service. The jerk chicken meals are juicy and not too too spicy (like some of the Jamaican restaurants I've been to). The curry chicken we may not have again, just because it was a bit "fresh" or under-seasoned for our liking. Maybe that particular chicken was not marinated overnight. Plus, the pieces were cut up to small, mostly bones. The curry got was surprisingly great. I have never had a curry goat from a restaurant that tasted so much like the ones we make at family gatherings. Very very tasty, and too overly curry-ish (if you know you know, LOL). And finally, the amazing service. Keep up the warm friendly service, because that's also a big part of what's going to really keep customers coming through the doors. A lot of times, I find a lot of restaurants in Canada with owners of Caribbean descent, do not really know how to treat customers, and/or are just blatantly rude for NO apparent reason. You guys were the total opposite. Sunrise and some of these other "black" restaurants out there selling West Indian foods, should really take a page out of your book. You got a new loyal...

We live so close to this place and never even knew it was there until a friend of ours from Pickering told us about it. Had to go check it out because I love supporting the local eateries. It's a little counter in the back of a convenience store and when you come, you're greeted very warmly by the owners. He even gave my son a freezie while we waited. That's the kind of warmth you love to see and why I love frequenting these kinds of establishments. We got jerk chicken, jerk pork and goat curry and everything was SUPER delicious. I loved the spices on the jerk chicken, definitely top 3 I've ever had. Jerk pork was sooooooo juicy and tasty. Goat curry was top notch. Really wanted to try to ox tail but they only do certain dishes on certain days so refer to the menu or call the place to see what the specials are for that day. Not everything is always available. Went here today for the first time and ordered the Jerk Chicken Meal, Jerk Chicken Poutine, and the Salt Fish Fritters and all I can say is it was incredible. The chicken was well seasoned and cooked perfectly and the rice tasted delicious. The guy at the cash register told me the salt fish fritters were gonna be amazing and oh my God they were, I'd recommend going here just for them they were so good. The wait wasn't too long especially considering they had multiple delivery orders while I was there, I got my food within 10 minutes and it was very well portioned for the price. My whole order was only $34 with 10% tip. The man taking my order was very nice and gave many recommendations not only to me but also the lady ordering after me. My only small problem was the small amount of gravy they give with the jerk chicken poutine but besides that everything tasted delicious and was warm and cooked perfectly.
