Update: Made the huge mistake of giving this location another chance since my 1 star review last year. They are actually worse than before. They are open until 12am and at 11:20pm their staff had the doors locked and refused to answer the drive thru. Two ignorant staff inside just giving myself and anyone that pulled up dirty looks waving them away.

Not only am I done ever using this location again, it’s soured me on ANY A&W location going forward and I am going to go out of my way to tell everyone I meet to avoid this Plessis Ave Winnipeg A&W location like the plague.

Original Review A&W currently has coffee any size for $1.

Yesterday I ordered two and the attitude that came over the drive thru speaker was off putting. “Uh huh” “Yup” with snark. Then they told me to wait. When I said “Thank you” after finally receiving it the girl gave me a dirty look and turned away to talk to a coworker.

Today, my son, who usually gets coffee at another place of business went to the sane Plessis Winnipeg location, ordered a coffee and was spoken to rudely. Made to wait for minutes at the window when he did try to say something they cut him off and told him to go park at the front to wait.

Waited for 15 minutes total. During that time 5 people that were after him got theirs including someone that ordered coffee.

He had to ask that person where his was before they brought it out.

The customer service has become horrible. I do not recommend using this establishment. Not worth the rude service. Not with Wendy’s just down the road now.

(The irony that during Black Friday weekend when retail is worked to the bone that this sorry lot can’t keep their heads on because they have more coffee orders...

I ordered a 3-piece chicken strip meal through the drive-thru on Nov 7/25, and the experience was unbelievably frustrating.

Normally, this meal includes two dipping sauces, and I’ve always been able to substitute those sauces for mayo packets instead. It’s something I’ve done many times before without issue. But this time, the woman working the drive-thru refused, claiming there was a “price difference.”

When I asked her to check, we found out both mayo and dipping sauces are 25¢ each….so there was no price difference at all. Despite that, she still refused to give me what I ordered and only handed over one mayo packet, even though the meal includes two sauces. That means I didn’t even get everything I paid for.

The interaction was rude, argumentative, and completely unnecessary. I shouldn’t have to argue over 25¢ packets or correct an employee about basic menu prices. The lack of consistency and professionalism at this location is really disappointing, and it’s not the first time they’ve made up rules on the spot.

I left feeling disrespected and shortchanged. If management reads this, please retrain your staff to follow your own policies — or at least make sure customers actually receive what they paid for.

Staff here is rude, argumentative, and lacks basic understanding. Today was the final straw. Every time we’ve come to this location they had a hard time understanding what we are asking for. But not in any of the other A&W’s, and it’s always a struggle to get our order straight; with the person taking the order. It’s always a young Indian woman. She needs to be back of house. Today I tried to order VERBATIM what the drink was called on the sign. A&W root beer & sweet cream shake. She kept asking if I wanted “one” or are they both regular. I say, “it’s one drink. Listen, I’m reading exactly as it is on the board. A&W rootbeer & sweet cream shake.” Before I pay I ask again, face to face, you understand that I want the rootbeer & sweet cream shake. She says, no, that’s two drink. I say, it’s not. I’ve ordered it many times. She said I’m adding the “&” and that’s not what it says on the sign. I say, that IS what it says on the sign. Maybe check the sign before calling your customer liars. I didn’t pay and didn’t get my order here. Went to a different A&W and ordered it without issue. I’m done going to this location.
