This is not your regular mediterrenean fare. Saying this is just another shawarma place will be a gross miss representation and insult to this wonderful establishment.
When you enter and you don't feel the love of their labour, you should check yourself and introspect. Such lovely food from such lovely people who have just not put their heart but their whole soul into giving you food that they eat and they want this city to discover. If this establishment doesn't do well and prosper its a loss to us.
The food isn't just lovely, its something that lingers with you after and reminds you of tastes you hadn't had for sometime but you didnt know you should have.
Things to have: -drop your finger on anything in the menu and I gaurantee it will be what it should be and you will definitely like it(assuming you are ok and open to eat and try things) -Their KHUBZ and SAMOON (in simple terms iraqi breads); but they are more than just breads, are made fresh in house everyday every hour and if you dont have it, dont try to go there. If you are there just have it. -Their rice: Having the faint cardamom, safforn and rose water flavor in the rice, in such a balance, that it makes you pause a minute to enjoy it. -Their Chicken: Just have their half full chicken.JUST HAVE IT. -Their Shawarmas: A lot of people call wraps shawarma, Please dont, Please please know that shawarma is the meat mountain on vertical skewer. And all of theirs has a different seasoning and very very well done. Their Stew: All of them are really well, slow cooked and flavour full, but you will be surprised to try Okra and how wondeful it is. I felt like i was back home. THEIR LOVE: apart from all the food you will have, their love is the best. They are so delightful and want to feed you and have their food. They are so eager to share what they have to offer. Take it all in, they will love it and share your love with them.

Read moreRecently, my friends and I decided to try out Ashur Restaurant in Winnipeg, hoping to enjoy some quality Middle Eastern cuisine. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of our expectations. To begin with, the food itself was quite disappointing. The shawarma, which we were particularly looking forward to, was noticeably overcooked—almost burnt. The texture was dry, and the flavor was lacking, making it hard to enjoy even a few bites.
What made matters worse was the service. The staff member who served us appeared confused and lacked professionalism. He struggled to answer basic questions about the menu, and his responses were inconsistent and unclear. His demeanor gave off the impression that he may have been under the influence of something, as he was inattentive and seemed disconnected from the situation. This not only made the ordering process frustrating but also raised concerns about the overall management and hygiene standards of the restaurant.
Overall, our visit to Ashur Restaurant was disappointing on multiple levels—from the quality of the food to the concerning behavior of the staff. While every establishment can have an off day, the combination of burnt meals and unprofessional service made for an experience we won’t be...
Read moreOne of my favourite local restaurants ever! I really don't often give reviews, but after being here so many times and feeling satisfied every single time, I feel like it is much needed.
The food is amazingly priced with huge portions - not to mention that it tastes amazing! There's many more closer Middle Eastern restaraunts to me but I always take the longer travel to visit here, bringing a new friend or family member with me because the quality is above and beyond❣️ We are always happy to take home our leftovers and they taste just as good reheated.
The staff and owner are always so kind, greeting us with a smile and making sure we feel accommodated. There was a new customer in the restaraunt when I went yesterday who has never had a falafel before, and the person at the counter kindly offered to have him taste some for free (they were freshly cooked too, their kitchen is right in front of you so you can watch them work). Such a heartwarming gesture! And you can tell that they are confident and passionate about what they sell to offer samples like that.
Please support this restaraunt and spread the word! I absolutely love this place and will be coming back here again and again😁😁❣️
