I don’t usually make reviews but I am so upset with my experience with this place. I had made reservations for Nov 5th (yesterday) a month ago for my birthday at the communal table in the middle and had confirmed this last Sunday, October 30th. My friends arrived earlier than I and they informed me I had no reservations under my name. Apparently someone scribbled my reservation and they had no idea how this happened, and had given the table I wanted away to other people. I was so frustrated over this as my reservation was for 25 people. The hostess who I spoke to on the phone last Sunday even confirmed that I called to confirm my reservation last week. Instead of telling the people they gave my table to that there was a mistake in the reservation , and make them move. I was told the table is no longer available and there were going to make something work. The manager couldn’t explain to me what happened with my reservation, and just offered to buy my table a round of shots. Apparently he went to my table to check up on us, but he talked to one of my friends thinking it was me when it was not. The service took forever, one of my friends asked for water 4 times before receiving it. To top it off, they were going to charge me a cake fee $2 a person which I wasnt made aware of when I booked the reservation. They waived it due to my reservation screw up. Im completely disappointed in how this situation was handled, Ive worked in the customer service industry 6+ years and this was handled poorly. What is the point of making a reservation a month in advanced AND confirming it a week before to have it be scribbled with no explanation? I received no compensation for this situation but a round of shots and a cake fee waived. I didnt even get an apology before leaving the restaurant. Safe to say, Im never coming back here again.
Update:
The owner was supposed to contact me to make things right, and I have yet to even hear anything back. It has been well over a week - Definitely shows they do not care about the poor experiences customers...

Had our first girl's night dining experience since COVID and we chose Cafe 22 on Corydon. Initially, not busy at all, showed our vax proof and ID and was admitted into the restaurant without any problems.
My friend ordered a pizza, and my other friend and I ordered entree salads. We were shocked beyond belief when our meals were brought to us. The portions are not consistent. My friend's pizza was an average size, and our Arugula salads were less than an appy size. Honestly, there was more arugula on my friend's pizza then both our salads combined. Utter disappointment.
Obviously, we were still hungry when we finished our salads, but we did not see our server for quite awhile. Another staff cleared our dishes without asking how everything was. It was not until our friend finished her pizza that the server returned. We asked if we made a mistake and ordered an appy salad instead of the intended entree salad, and the server advised that they only had one size. We expressed our disappointment in the tiny size and clearly we were still hungry. We had to order another menu item to compensate for the lack of portion on our salads.
When the bill arrived, we asked the server if there was nothing they could do since we voiced our disappointment and disbelief over the portion size. It was only then that she offered to speak with a Manager.
Here's the result: They removed one salad from our bill, not both. So, two people were disappointed and not satisfied with their portion size, but only one was recognized as a problem. Also, the Manager could have taken a minute to walk over and speak to us directly instead of ignoring us. He looked at us at our table, and shook his head and walked away from the server.
Won't be returning. Room for massive...
Read moreI went to Cafe 22 on April 2 to meet friends for a drink and some food. I arrived from work about a half hour after my friends, and had what proved to be a frustrating evening. I sat for 20 minutes before finally waving a server down to ask for a menu and a drink. The person I waved down informed us she was not our server, but said she would bring a menu and alert our server. I waited another 10 for the server to finally come and take a drink order... and then even more time for her to finally bring the drink and take the order. An hour after I arrived, I asked after my food - she seemed confused and said she would check with the kitchen - but named the wrong pizza order. I corrected her, she confirmed... and then after a further wait of about a half hour, when the food was finally delivered, the order was incorrect. I was at the restaurant for close to an hour and a half - and at that point I cancelled the pizza and we asked for a bill. The food at this restaurant might be good, but the services terrible. This is apparently well known by patrons - I heard the table next to us comment on the poor service. Our server was new, but she was not properly trained or supported, and our experience reflected that. It was unpleasant. Winnipeg is filled with restaurants that have both good food and excellent service - head for one of them and give this place a miss.
Edit: I got a response asking that I contact the company at an e-mail to allow them to address the issue. I sent an e-mail and was asked what had happened. I gave a complete accounting in my review, but I provided it again via e-mail. The response felt canned: We are sorry, we take pride in our service, we will let the owner know. It was less than satisfactory. If you are invited to contact them, don't bother, it's a waste of...
